Backing Quick Finish e/w in the Oaks. I thought she was excellent in the Derby on Saturday.

Shockletz out. Mr Monaco in. Not sure WTF is going on but riding an animal that weighs half a tonne 48 hours after having surgery on your collar bone is an obvious negative…
One of the most open Melbourne Cups in my lifetime but here are my top 4 in order. 1. No. 10 Goodie Two Shoes 2. No. 2 Trustyourinstinct 3. No. 1 Sons and Lovers 4. No. 24 Shockletz

Interesting looking at the past 30 Melbourne Cup winners and their finishing position at their final start before winning the Melbourne Cup.

Wonder if he’ll slip him $10 of the $500k prize money. Huge fortnight for the kid and well deserved.
'This is Kerrin's horse. He should be here today, not me' 🥹 Chad Schofield pays tribute to Kerrin McEvoy after winning the Golden Eagle on Skyhook, who McEvoy missed out on riding because of a ban.

The Aussies are coming for that lightweight belt! What a comeback from Tom Nolan at #UFCVegas123

I don’t think there is anyone saying the VRC Derby should be 2000m. There’s a lot of people saying there’s a lot of people saying it. But no one is actually saying it.

Is there another sport & set of fans as harsh & unforgiving as Australian cricket? Openly bash and hate on our own team religiously. All this while we are the number one ranked Test team on the verge of an away series win against number two.
Pat Cummins has been an utter disgrace as captain. Cannot fathom how awful he has been tactically as captain. His strategy of bowling bumpers around the wicket defies all kinds of logic. Lead has already swelled up to 286 runs and Simon Harmer will be licking his lips on a deteriorating surface. 'The Grandmaster at Work' 😂😂

Advice for Derby Day features (1/4) Derby You picked your Derby horse months ago didn’t you? You’re not married to the horse. Throw it out & redo the form. Staying pedigree is obvious but it doesn’t mean class won’t prevail at this age. TIP: No. 10 True Tone

(4/4) The Wakeful A precursor to The Oaks so pedigree is again important. Don’t be afraid to find a filly that produced a peak performance last start when finally getting out to 1600m-2000m even if it’s at Kembla Grange! TIP: No. 5 Your Colour
62
(3/4) Coolmore Stud Stakes You are after a horse that has a proven rating but also upside. The race is won by very good sprinters that more often than not turn in champions in the autumn (before they are retired prematurely). TIP: No. 1 The Next Episode
88
(2/4) Empire Rose The best mile race for the girls which means you are after a filly or mare that has produced a high enough rating to win the race. The most important factor IMO is that 1600m is their optimal distance. TIP: No.1 Lady Shenandoah

Two trials, two races, spell, two trials.. Just double checking owners don’t get prize money for trials right?

My memory of backing Desert War on Derby Day 20 years ago trumps AI. The robots won’t be taking over any time soon people.

Went old school and waited at my local for markets to open in the 4th at Flemington on Derby Day. Got Hankee Alpha at $6.50 now into $4.80. Hope the TAB can recover if it wins after such astute punting 😉

I see Marnus Labuschagne like Nathan Lyon. Excellent cricketers on the decline but still the best option. No one, and I mean no one, has questioned Gaz’s spot in the Test side because there is no obvious spinner as an alternative.

Always baffled me why they don’t do this when kicking for touch in rugby league.
The latest Aussie to dust off the banana kick 🇦🇺

Counter argument is performance does matter but we have a plethora of good fast bowlers and no middle order batsmen to replace Marnus.
The message is pretty clear. Performance doesn’t really matter. We just wanna pick the guys we like.

Darren Gauci riding On A Jeune is 1 or 2 lengths off the champ at the top of the straight. Tragedy beaten. Difference between having extreme confidence in your horse.
A legendary ride, and a legendary after party 😂 Glen Boss takes us through the 2005 Melbourne Cup from the air 👏
