According to the latest update of my ancestry DNA profile, I’ve become 29% more Midlander and 4% less Dutch over the past year. I find this very disorientating…

Two years ago I was 5% Norwegian. Now, my Viking heritage is no more. This makes me sad. But Warwickshire is lovely at least.

The new #Jaguar? I don’t know if it’ll sell or not, that depends on finding enough rich buyers - but at least it’s not *another* identikit SUV. Chapeau 🎩 to @Jaguar for that reason alone…

NEW: BBC warned it faces entering “doom loop” as it pushes ahead with cuts. Local specialist correspondent numbers cut. Local radio dialled back. And more to come. No easy answers here, but Brittin said no salami slicing. All feels a bit salami-esque. theguardian.com/media/2026/s…

The BBC's Mark Doyle, best known for his reporting on conflicts in Africa in the 1990s and 2000s, has died aged 67 after a short illness. He was a friend and a correspondent that I greatly admired. His reporting from the Rwandan genocide was a legendary bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cq98…

For motorsport fans, this is great news. A couple of decades ago, rallying was huge in this country. McRae and Burns were legends. Today Elfyn Evans is closer than ever to a first world title and hardly anyone knows about it. Let’s make rallying mainstream again!
The BBC will broadcast the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) from 2027 to 2029. A new three-year agreement will bring live coverage of every round of the global motorsport series to audiences across the UK. Read more➡️bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2026/b…

This is Rocky. He was desperate to join me on Radio 4 and Radio 5 this morning and didn’t appreciate being locked out. Not sure whether his plaintive wails made it on air, but he really tried.

Part of the answer here is that I was on long term sick leave looking after my dying wife. You can put that in your story.
Staff at BBC Northern Ireland missed more than 3,500 days because of sickness in one year. The average employee was absent for more than 10 days — the highest rate in the UK. Read more: tinyurl.com/2esfare4
