If it takes a village to raise a child, I suspect it takes a globe to cultivate

Pressure has an incredible ability to make bad decisions seem urgent.
If you want to be emotionally intelligent under pressure, keep these 3 things in mind:
1) Emotional intelligence does an incredible job of preventing you from making commitments your future self will regret.
Pressure makes us agree to deadlines and make promises we know are unrealistic to fulfill. Why? We get immediate relief from the commitment (which feels like progress). But eventually reality hits and we realize we've chosen momentary comfort over long-term peace of mind.
2) Good questions trigger the flaws in an argument without creating defensiveness.
When someone makes a questionable assertion, your brain begs you to challenge it directly. In the end, asking good questions is a better course of action. People who first learn to do this are often surprised how you can challenge someone's thinking more effectively by asking them to explain it themselves than you can by telling them they're wrong.
3) Emotional intelligence preserves your future options and your current relationships.
When you handle conversations poorly, you close doors that have nothing to do with the original disagreement. Your anger and defensiveness can damage relationships and push people away. High EQ individuals understand their emotions leave a lasting impact. They don't just try to keep the peace. Rather they protect the relationships they value most.

TB 67 Restraint
All our leaders now at pains
To sympathise with Helen Haines.
Cut out the harsh words in debate
Reduce the heat we've seen of late,
And argue showing more respect.
We'll all be nice. But I suspect
Before we see Ms Haines recover
We'll all be yelling at each other.
And social media will be blamed,
The algorithms work, it's claimed,
And while there is no doubt it's true
Platforms can influence our view
We need to own the words we choose
And show restraint in words we use,
Call out the language out of court.
Denigrating's not a sport.
Perhaps the strongest rule of all,
Don't play the person, play the ball.

A good reminder of why we spray smaller weeds at knockdown - not larger ones as surface moisture is reduced and root disease risk amplifies. Here a small summer spray miss led to a large delay in establishment 🌱 @CropDoctor54

It doesn't yet cover all ports. Share to support this work and further development, and subscribe to episode3.net
