I will not eat bugs. I will not accept a brain chip. I will not vote for robot politicians.
This is where I get off the (automated) train. "If robot garbagemen are safer and cleaner than humans, we’ll eventually automate trash collection; if robot legislators provide coordination, order, etc better than we do, we should automate that too." astralcodexten.com/p/against…

I'm calling it that cybersecurity is going to save the AI boom--it's solving a problem it creates.
I support building a ton of data centers because we'll need them for cybersecurity (and national defense) in the coming decades.

I also remember watching with the whole family Reagan's speech at the '92 convention. I think my brother had to explain to me his joke "I knew Thomas Jefferson... You, Mr. Governor, are no Thomas Jefferson." It was a good speech, so much better than we're used to today.
I kind of remember people talking about Reagan and then Bush a little, but as for clear memories... the First Gulf War?

What is the oldest political news story you can remember? For me it's Joe Biden being selected as Obama's VP.

I defended my dissertation in philosophy in 2012. I felt then that a door was closing behind me as I was on my way to my first TT job. In 2020, I was certain that the status quo couldn't continue in higher ed. But the whole op is arranged to preserve the status quo.

The big tech people are in a bubble and Jon Stewart's reaction is totally that of most people.
Former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon (@hilbertspaess) and Jon Stewart discuss AI, jobs disappearing, universal income, and whether tech CEOs are creating a dystopian future
