- A major technical challenge was making Jason and Lucia naturally spend long periods together in the open world
- Their systems support texting, meeting up, holding hands, gyms, robberies, police chases and continuous conversations
- GTA 6’s interconnected systems, NPCs and world complexity contributed to both delays
- Strauss Zelnick was reportedly surprised by the second delay to November 19, but supported it after Rockstar explained why it was needed

- November 19 is currently viewed internally as achievable

Jason Schreier reveals the real reasons GTA 6 took so long to develop in his interview with Rockstar North:
- Rockstar was trying to organize itself after key people left the studio (Dan houser, Michael Unsworth, Lazlow Jones) following the RDR2 launch
- The pandemic disrupted the team and forced everyone to work from home before Rockstar cracked down on remote work following the 2022 leaks
- Rockstar cancelled their initial plan of working on GTA 6 and RDR2 concurrently, and chose to focus on the latter until 2018
- The team doubled in size which caused communication and coordination issues
- They were testing a lot of new systems and still figuring out what works in the game
- They also reduced crunch as much as possible which increased development time
