A notebook for the morning after #EWU's home loss to Montana State.
The Eagles will head into their bye week now, then host Montana on Oct. 31.

GAMER: Montana State wins in Cheney yet again, 56-20.

FINAL: Montana State 56, Eastern Washington 20
That's the largest margin of defeat for the Eagles since the red turf was installed at Roos Field in 2010 and the second-most points they've allowed at home since then.
More after a bit @SpokesmanSports
After that Dahlke touchdown, it's now 49-20 Montana State.
For the Eagles, their largest margin of defeat at home on the red turf (installed in 2010) is a 40-13 loss to North Dakota State in 2017.
Oliver Luebkert gets his first collegiate touchdown. Eagles are now within striking distance, 35-20.
Weird game statistically. Eagles have outgained the Bobcats 374-222 in total offense, but MSU has 97 interception return yards and a 59-yard kickoff return.
2:40 left, Q3
Kevin Allen III scores his second rushing touchdown of the season. He’s rushed 10 times for 64 yards today, already a season-high. And that includes the 24-yard loss he was credited with on the pitch play in the first half.
MSU still up 35-13.
HALF: MSU 28, #EWU 6
What looked like a competitive game the first 28 minutes went really poorly for Eastern in the final 2, with two INTs leading to 14 points.
Nate Bell: 18 of 28 for 0 TDs and 3 INTs.
Two drives in a row Nate Bell has not seen Cole Taylor. This time Taylor intercepts the ball and brings it all the way for a touchdown.
It’s 28-6 Bobcats.
Unfortunate turn of events for the Eagles after a really nice third-down conversion by Bell-to-Garrett. Next play, Bell throws an interception. Two plays after that, Adam Jones is in the end zone again.
21-6.
Eagles will try again here to score before halftime.
Eagles are trading touchdowns for field goals with two stalled drives in the red zone. It’s a crucial stretch here, with 3:20 until half, Bobcats ball – and the Bobcats get the second-half kickoff.
It's 14-6 MSU over EWU
Another TD run right up the middle, this on a fourth-and-1. Nobody up top for the EWU D and the Bobcats O-line busted a hole for Jared White to run right through for 33 yards and a TD. Now it’s 14-3.
There’s the big running play: a 32-yard run by Adam Jones through the right side. Bobcats take a 7-3 lead.
END Q1: #EWU 3, MSU 0
Eagles got a couple of early stops on defense, though the Bobcats finally have a couple of first downs on the current drive.
Eagles have eight first downs and the lead on a 42-yard field goal.
Nate Bell: 10 of 13, 85 yards, 1 INT
A nasty crosswind there, but Soren McKee makes a 42-yard field goal from the right hash. Eagles squandered a first-and-goal with a bad pitch play, but they salvage the field goal and take a 3-0 lead, 1 minute left in Q1.
A couple of three-and-outs early here for the EWU defense. A nice push by the front so far, and a great play by JoJo Maxey-Johnson on third-and-1 that last drive to break up a quick throw to Dane Steel.
Eagles will start at their own 18, still scoreless.
Also notable: WR Joe Gallagher is active and warming up. If he plays it'd be his first game of the season and first as a Division I player.
What to watch for in Saturday's football game in Cheney between #EWU and #MSU:
