Wow, magnificent. One of my home state trees (usually seen in a scrabbly state on steep hillsides.) I make wreaths of them in November to hold the promise of spring through the winter (as it is an evergreen.)

Black Poplar trees are distinctive along the Thames Path, mainly because there are so few of them! A new project aims to restore Black Poplars through the Thames valley by using DNA tests to identify suitable trees for propagating and planting to create a connected network of new trees along the Thames, helping restore a species that's been part of the landscape for centuries.
