Brian Horton – a manager many City fans still hold in high regard 💙 Appointed in August 1993 during a turbulent spell at the club, Horton brought some real quality to Maine Road. Players like Uwe Rösler, Paul Walsh, Peter Beagrie and David Rocastle all arrived under his tenure. There were some memorable moments too — big home wins like Everton 4–0, West Ham 3–0 and that brilliant 5–2 against Spurs. Away from home, the 4–3 win at QPR in the League Cup and the 3–2 victory over title-chasing Blackburn also stand out. Despite dealing with constant injuries that disrupted his squad, Horton always gave everything during his time at the club between 1993 and 1995. There’s also that well-known story of him informing the players he’d be leaving at the end of the season following a stop at the pub on the way back from the win at Blackburn— a moment that sums up the era in many ways. Horton remains a regular at the Etihad today, always giving time to supporters — a proper football man who always has time to chat. @brian_horton4 is a real first class fella in every sense.
