On HMCS Kootenay Day, we stop to remember the nine brave crew members who lost their lives and the 53 injured in 1969. The heroics of the crew saved lives and kept their ship afloat during the worst peacetime tragedy in Canadian Navy history. Today, we honour those lost, the survivors, and their families.
Great progress at the QEII! Construction is moving fast, and the foundation is officially built.
Over the next year, crews will build up to the full 14 storeys. Once finished, this expansion will mean a larger emergency room, new operating rooms, modern lab space, and faster access to care for you and your family.
At the same time, our plan to recruit more doctors and healthcare workers is delivering real results. Last year alone, we reached a five-year high in doctor recruitment, bringing 278 new physicians to Nova Scotia, a net gain of 199 doctors added to our healthcare system.
There is more work to do but Nova Scotia healthcare is moving in the right direction. Let's keep going.
Canada is stronger with Alberta as part of it, and last night’s results show the overwhelming majority of Albertans agree with this.
Many Nova Scotians have strong ties to Alberta, either having worked there or with friends and family going to their province to help build up their industry.
Here in Nova Scotia, we’ll keep doing our part to develop our own natural resources, create opportunities, and contribute to a stronger Canada.
Today is Pharmacy Technician Day across Nova Scotia!
Pharmacy technicians are on the front lines of healthcare every single day. They help dispense lifesaving care, ensure medications are the right match for patients, and make sure Nova Scotians get the care they need close to home.
We are also giving our pharmacy teams the tools and support to do more, allowing them to provide care to the full extent of their training.
Thank you to all our pharmacy technicians for everything you do to make healthcare better in Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotians stand with all those affected by the tragic incident at CFB Wainwright.
Our thoughts go out to everyone who is grieving today and send our heartfelt thanks to the brave first responders and medical personnel who are working so hard to ease pain and save lives.
Members of the Canadian Armed Forces are part of Nova Scotia's fabric. Nearly every Nova Scotian knows someone who serves our country. They are our neighbours. Our kids go to school and play hockey together. They are dedicated community volunteers and they are our friends.
Today all those who are suffering are in our prayers.
Today is World Menopause Day. Our government is focused on building a stronger healthcare system for women in Nova Scotia.
We are making it easier and faster to get breast cancer screening, a new Menopause Centre of Excellence is opening this winter in Spryfield, and we are also creating a Women’s Health Research and Innovation Grant along with training more healthcare staff so women get better care.
There's more work to do and our government continues to be committed to making healthcare better for all Nova Scotians.
Wind West, Nova Scotia's major offshore wind project, just took a big step forward earlier this week.
Our government has secured $100 million from the federal government to advance offshore wind energy. This major milestone brings us one step closer to making our province a global clean energy powerhouse moving Nova Scotia from the end of the energy line to the starting point.
Unlocking our world-class wind will attract billions in private investment, build a stronger economy, and create thousands of good-paying jobs for Nova Scotians. We are building our economy to power Canada and protect our future.

Congratulations to Ross and Carla Pentz of Lunenburg County on being named Nova Scotia’s 2026 Woodland Owner of the Year!
For 50 years, the Pentz family has cared for their forest by hand and opened their land for neighbours to enjoy hiking, horseback riding, and birdwatching.
Shoutout as well to Bill Angevine and his family in Antigonish for winning the eastern region award for their work in sustainable forestry, including using horses to haul logs!
Private woodlot owners protect our province's natural beauty, boost our local economy, and care for our forests for future generations. Thank you for all that you do for Nova Scotia!
This is a big day for Nova Scotia. Today, I joined EverWind as they announced plans for more than $10 billion in private investment in Nova Scotia.
The investment includes a new data centre campus in Point Tupper and in wind energy projects across Nova Scotia. Together, these projects are expected to support approximately 2,000 construction jobs and 215 permanent jobs.
That's thousands of opportunities for Nova Scotians to work on major projects right here at home.
Of course, projects of this size must be developed responsibly. EverWind has committed to meeting the expectations of both the federal and provincial governments to protect electricity ratepayers, safeguard local water resources and ensure communities share in the benefits. We will hold them to that.
Nova Scotia has the people, the resources, and the potential to compete for major investments like this.
We need to keep getting projects moving, creating opportunities, and building an economy that works for Nova Scotians. That’s how we continue to increase Nova Scotia’s self reliance. That’s how we continue protecting our future while building Nova Scotia.
Yesterday was a great day for our province with Ottawa’s investment in moving Wind West forward. Today is another great day with this significant private investment.
Congratulations to EverWind, their partners, workers, and everyone involved in this exciting announcement.
Nova Scotia is on the verge of becoming a clean energy superpower.
Wind West took a big leap forward thanks to our government securing $100 million in federal funding to advance the project. Offshore wind has the potential to unlock billions of dollars in economic activity, which means good-paying jobs, new revenue, a path to lower taxes, and better public services.

October 15 is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day in Nova Scotia.
To every family who has experienced the heartbreak of losing a pregnancy or baby: you are not alone. Today, we remember the little lives lost and stand with the families who carry their memory every day.
In 2017, I introduced legislation to officially recognize this day, and I remain grateful that all members of the Legislature came together in support. To every family grieving a loss, please know that you and your loved ones are not forgotten.
Big progress at the QEII Halifax Infirmary!
The base for the new 14-storey acute care tower is now in place. This new space will house a larger emergency department, new operating rooms, diagnostic labs, and key hospital services.
Over the next year, crews will build up to the full 14 storeys, delivering state-of-the-art healthcare facilities for Nova Scotians for generations to come.
In the meantime, our government will continue to recruit healthcare teams to deliver the care Nova Scotians need.
We’re helping folks in Colchester and Cumberland get where they need to go.
With an investment from our government and federal partners, local community transit is adding six new vehicles including accessible minibuses and a hybrid van.
This funding gives seniors, families, and residents a safe, reliable way to reach appointments, run errands, and stay connected across rural Nova Scotia.
Building to protect our rural communities.

A big congratulations to Nova Scotia’s own Logan Taylor on his first NFL start on Sunday with the Los Angeles Chargers!
It’s always a thrill to see Nova Scotians thriving on the national and international stage. Keep it going, Logan!
Wishing all Nova Scotians a happy and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend spent with family, friends, and loved ones. 🍂
Unlocking our own natural resources is how we protect Nova Scotians from rising costs and secure our future. By safely developing clean energy and local resources, backed by strict, world-class environmental safeguards, we generate the revenue needed to fund healthcare and build our province without raising your taxes.
Every girl in Nova Scotia deserves the chance to dream big and reach her full potential.
On International Day of the Girl Child, we celebrate the strong, talented young women across our province who are shaping our future. By investing in better opportunities, healthcare, and education, we are building a Nova Scotia where every girl can succeed right here at home.
To all the future leaders, thinkers, and doers keep reaching high. We are behind you all the way.
