Well done Mike Matthews!! It's a great hotel! Maybe there'll be some jobs for some of them in the future. Shrewsbury is a great place to be isolated especially in the Prince Rupert! 👍

Watched this inspirational @BBCNews item and was most impressed. The vast majority of the homeless people in The Prince Rupert Hotel in Shrewsbury have stopped taking drugs. Hopefully that continues when the lockdown ends and they move on to their own new normal.
A deeply moving interview on @BBCNews with Mike Matthews, owner of Shrewsbury's Prince Rupert Hotel, who instead of closing over lockdown opened his rooms to 25 homeless guests. A model of quiet, reflective empathy that we would all do well to aspire to. (Starts at 09:35am today)

I know many new starters were affected by furlough cut off, which I raised with Treasury Ministers. This is a welcome change, giving security to more people. gov.uk/government/news/furlo…

This is the memorial to General Rowland Hill, 1st Viscount Hill, who fought in the Napoleonic Wars. St Mary's Magdalene is a beautiful little church with Kempe stained glass windows, tiny carved winged lions & even a green man. Hadnall #Shropshire

I simply cannot believe the insensitivity of the Home Office today re-issuing their advice on a new #immigration system in which #carers are low-skilled! Many are at the frontline in a #pandemic. Shame on you. @scottishcare gov.uk/guidance/new-immigrat…

We know this will be disappointing for our festivalgoers - it is for us too.

CONFIRMED: If u left a job after 28 Feb, that old employer can rehire you to furlough u. So if needed ask.
We knew this worked for those made redundant, but Treasury's just confirmed to us, this is allowed for those who left voluntarily (eg for a new job).
Tell those affected
