Californians seem like they’re going to pass Proposition 40, “the Billionaire Tax.” We break down what that could mean today on @MorningWire.
California is poised to impose the first ever billionaire tax, sparking ultimatums from the state’s most crucial taxpayers. Reporting from @TimRiceDC. Get the facts first with Morning Wire.

"The fact that this is how much negotiation has gone into keeping just one CEO at one tech company when this thing hasn't even passed yet, goes to show just how nervous the real moneymakers are about the potential implications." @TimRiceDC on the fallout from California's first-of-its-kind Billionaire Tax:

When my nephew was very, very small @FaithKMoore and I took him on a long, sweaty, and generally cranky subway ride to see our grandmother, then suffering from advanced dementia. She was our one remaining grandparent. We walked into the room and this woman, who no longer reliably knew our names, lit up with what I can only describe as an uncanny sunburst of understanding. “It’s my great grandson!” she said, and scooped him into her arms like some protecting angel in a parting act of benediction. I never saw her again.
This tripe will do absolutely nothing to make anyone feel more comfortable fending off unwanted romantic advances, but at least it might introduce a made-up problem where none exists into a few young people’s lives. And hey, maybe they’ll even squirm out of an embrace or two that they can never, ever get back, replacing one of life’s most nourishing mysteries—the love that broaches time by force, without our choosing, like an unstoppable angel—with a black crater of discomfort and regret. Nice going, chuckleheads.
Everyone involved in the making of this ad should be forced to watch a million home videos, Clockwork-Orange style, then subjected to one thousand of the sloppiest kisses by a doddering old woman of the state’s appointment, and then sent to sit in a corner wearing a dunce cap while the rest of us go hug our eldest living relative extra tight.

One of the best things about Upstream is getting to run opposing perspectives side by side. We're engaging with the great horror debate this week. Check out what our writers have to say!

Socialism is so good politically that the socialists are running as capitalists and attacking Republicans as communists!

I think it's fair to say that @potus endorsement of "Find Me Nowhere" is the moral equivalent of an executive order. Which means, if you are anywhere near Nashville tonight, you are legally required to come and say hello as I chat and sign books at the Barnes & Noble in Cool Springs, near Franklin starting at 5:30 Central.

It is 2045. A rapidly aging Jonathan Bailey dutifully plods his way through a cover of Hot for Teacher as Mr. Schue alongside an AI-generated simulacrum of Leah Michelle. Outside the studio, irradiated urchins scavenge for food in a nuclear wasteland. This is our life now.

We got an exclusive look at the arrival of the latest group of refugees to the United States. The Trump admin welcomed 42 Afrikaner refugees fleeing oppression in South Africa yesterday at Dulles airport.
After speaking with many of them, it's clear they're here to contribute to the American way of life and are ready to assimilate.
“I want to mean something," one of the refugees, Tina, told @realDailyWire. "I want to give something of myself to your country to say thank you for what you are doing for me. To give me the opportunities to start a new life, a better life than I’ve had in South Africa.”
