In the apparently placid video of Ilhan Omar with husband number three enjoying Indian Summer on a walk beside a Twin Cities lake...there is a "coded message." “You will suffer and cry” powerlineblog.com/archives/2…

@Tim_Groseclose and I have an old paper on this. The gist is that it would be far better to make him veto moderate proposals
Make him veto Medicare for All Make him veto a $25 living wage Make him veto free childcare Make him veto Block the Bombs to Israel Make him veto zero aid to Israel Make him veto free college Make him veto erasing student loans Make him veto taxes on billionaires

Some U.S. universities are doubling down on hiring professors who excel in skills of scant market value. Packing departments with experts in “trans rhetoric” or “antiracist rhetoric” shortchanges students, cheapens the humanities, and deepens public distrust of academia.
The humanities will first have to be saved from themselves. This describes a job ad for an “Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition Rhetoric of Health and Medicine” who will be part of the English department (which is already heavily focused on identity politics).

Can’t believe I missed this. Rob Long (@rcbl), the legendary *Cheers* writer, has written a spoof sit-com involving Ilhan Omar and her first two husbands. As in real life, the three live in the same home at the same time. One husband, Ahmed Hirsi, is mildly misogynic – in an Islamist-you-must-wear-your-head-scarf sort of way. The other, Ahmed Elmi, is gay. And both … are named Ahmed! Hilarity ensues. nationalreview.com/magazine/…

Scientists & science journalists decry the public's rejection of science, but are oblivious to the major cause: the perception, sometimes correct, that scientists are just another political faction. Among the guiltiest perpetrators are the recent editors of Scientific American, who turned this once-beloved treasure into a left-wing propaganda rag. This absolutely does not justify the Trump administration's unconstitutional meddling, but the new owners are right to restore it to its mission of explaining science to Americans. The remarkable @scottwjohnson (Who has worked alongside the remarkable @HinderakerJohn for decades at @powerlineblog) are the “right winger” Congresswoman Omar referred to in her non-denial interview with Chris Hayes. They are superb lawyers and when they dig in they dig in as Dan Rather found out 22 years ago. I hope Scott and John will prominently feature a primer on the Omar case(s) so first time visitors to their site during the ongoing investigation into Omar and her family and business ties have an easy to understand primer. They know to treat most journalists like Steelers fans and to go slow and break it down into tiny bits of info to newbies can follow the story. If there’s fire there —and there is a lot of smoke— they will clear the air with authority and detail. Link to their site in replies.
The Ilhan Omar news of the day reminds me of Group Captain Lionel Mandrake’s line in Dr. Strangelove: “Listen, Colonel Bat Guano — if that really is your name.” Thanks to @trish_regan for having me on to talk about it. powerlineblog.com/archives/2…

I met with two ICE agents in the Twin Cities this past January. They asked me, do you know what we want to talk with you about? I thought it was to congratulate me on my support of ICE during Operation Metro Surge…
Did Ilhan Omar marry her brother? Keep your eye on @ScottWJohnson, who's most responsible for exposing this issue. Johnson is honest, measured, and super smart. Apparently, ICE has been talking to him. youtube.com/watch?v=nIfNwkN1…

I've gotten through the first third. It is excellent. Knowing leftist radicals in the '60s & early 70s it brought back memories. One vivid memory is the cowardliness of college administrators. I was stunned back then & "White Guilt" brought it all back. It's worse now!
