Today, some of the books that shaped my life—and the lives of so many others—are being challenged by people who disagree with certain ideas or perspectives. And librarians are on the front lines, fighting every day to make the widest possible range of viewpoints, opinions, and ideas available to everyone.

A must read from President @BarackObama to our country’s librarians:
"I hope you’ll join me in reminding anyone who will listen — and even some people you think might not — that the free, robust exchange of ideas has always been at the heart of American democracy."

"Tina Turner walked away from the spotlight and her volatile, abusive husband in the 1970s, remade herself as a solo artist, sold more than 100 million records, won eight Grammy Awards, and became a brighter star in her 40s and 50s than she had been in her youth."

"I sincerely hope the strike gets resolved, and writers are given a fair deal as soon as possible. This is an iconic, meaningful American industry & we need the writers—and all the workers—to tell the stories of our nation, and the stories of all of us." - @POTUS #WGAStrong #1u

The vicious, unjustified beating of Tyre Nichols and his ultimate death at the hands of five Memphis police officers is just the latest, painful reminder of how far America still has to go in fixing how we police our streets.

Dear World Leaders,
Islamic Republic has executed karate champion #MohammadMehdiKarami (22) and volunteer children's coach #MohammadHosseini (29) after tortured confessions and sham trials without due process. Your silence is deafening. Your silence is complicity.

There can be no tolerance for men's violence against women in our society, it starts with men, it starts with these views. This isn't a 'joke', this is vitriolic hate speech against women that doubles-down on the verbal abuse they experience + fear of men they are imprinted with.

I just want to make a few things clear:
The Holocaust happened.
Hitler was a demonic figure.
And instead of giving it a platform, our political leaders should be calling out and rejecting antisemitism wherever it hides.
Silence is complicity.

Shout out to all the workers at Twitter. You all built a vital place for connection and deserved so much better.
Millions of people appreciate the space you built and the hard work that went into it. Thank you 💙

I won’t share the anti-semitic sign from the 405 in Los Angeles.
I do want to share this:
Unchallenged anti-semitism has devastating consequences.
So we must challenge and defeat it, along with all manifestations of white supremacist ideology.
We can overcome evil with good.

Hi! The global Jewish population has still not rebounded from the Holocaust. There were 16.6 million Jews in 1939, then 6 million of us were annihilated in a genocide that happened when "It's A Wonderful Life" came out in movie theaters, and now there are 14.8 million of us.

19 children’s backpacks. Two teachers totes. All placed outside the front doors of the administration building. These lives are who we are fighting for and I’m gonna make damn sure that this administration remembers them.

As I've repeatedly said, this isn't just about getting rid of the morality police.
The entire legal discriminatory framework in Iran needs to go. The state enshrines in its laws discrimination against women, ethnic minorities, religious minorities, LGBTQ populations and so on.
