I was sorry to hear of the passing of Ken Burgess, a true New Addington legend who gave so much to the community he loved. For more than 40 years, Ken and his Burgess Boys Pet Care Centre were part of the fabric of Central Parade, serving generations of local families. But Ken’s contribution went far beyond his shop. As Chairman of the Central Parade Business Partnership and through his involvement in local events, he was a tireless champion for New Addington and its businesses. I had the pleasure of catching up with Ken outside his former pet shop during a visit to New Addington with former Cllr Tony Pearson. We had a good conversation about New Addington, a place he knew inside out and cared about deeply. His pride in the community was obvious. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends and all those across New Addington who knew him.

🚫 Zero tolerance on fly tipping I visited Croydon AFC today after a huge fly tip was dumped behind the ground. The club has already done a great job clearing much of it, and my officers have been on site since last night supporting them. Let me be clear. This behaviour will not be tolerated. My enforcement team has gathered evidence, identified those responsible, and we will be prosecuting them. We are also looking at stronger gates and installing cameras to stop this happening again.
