Last week I thought the staff did a great job of preparing for NYRB. Full credit to them.
Today, was the complete opposite. I’ve tweeted it a few times already but I just can’t wrap my head around them not planning to be the aggressors today. It was right there.

Just because you’re playing against a possession based team, doesn’t mean you need to accept letting them play with the ball and absorb pressure.
They were missing key players and were coming off a hectic week. TFC needed to take advantage and be on the front-foot.

It’s the story of the season. More often than not, the game plan heading into the match puts the team behind the eight ball in the first half.
Once they scrap it in the second half and the players are allowed to express themselves, good things happen.

Josh Sargent! It’s interesting to see what happens when you play on the front-foot. Two goals scored and a red card drawn.

Bangoura has been sent off. In under two minutes, Theo Corbeanu has picked up an assist and has drawn a red card. He makes things happen!

Look at that 😳
Toronto FC’s leader in goal contributions has scored. Great ball by Theo.
Columbus Crew 4-1 Toronto FC

Brooks Lennon… who was VERY close to becoming a Toronto FC player earlier this season has increased the Crew’s lead to four… because of course he did.
Columbus Crew 4-0 Toronto FC

I cannot believe Salloi wasn’t brought on to start the second half.
Surely the team leader in goals and assists might be able to help you get back in a game you’re trailing in…

Josh Sargent spends more time in his own penalty area than the opposing penalty area. To no fault of his own.

Great response to start the second half.

What’s the point in having DP’s if your plan is to play without the ball?
I can’t imagine how frustrated Djordje and Josh are right now. Especially Djordje. 99% of his value comes from him having the ball at his feet.
