Protecting Uganda’s birds is a shared responsibility that also safeguards our cultural heritage.
Speaking at the second edition of the Run for Birds, Owekitiibwa @NajibSsekikubo , CEO of the @TourBugandaUG , called on individuals and organisations to support Avian Conservation Uganda’s conservation initiatives, emphasising birds’ deep cultural significance and the need to preserve them for future generations.

We're honored to host the Queen at our premises!
Earlier today, I met with @Queenrahmah2026 , the reigning Miss Tourism Buganda Kingdom and Miss Heritage Uganda, for a fruitful discussion about her journey so far and her plans for the future.
We discussed her passion for preserving our heritage, particularly her advocacy for children to learn and speak their mother tongues freely. We also explored her commitment to improving the lives of young girls in island communities, where geographical isolation and limited access to essential services such as healthcare and education continue to constrain opportunities.
As @TourBugandaUG , we recognise the potential of our queens to champion meaningful causes, promote our heritage and contribute to community development. Our commitment is to work with and support our queens in translating their platforms into impactful initiatives throughout their reigns.
On behalf of the Kingdom of Buganda, through BHTB, I reaffirmed our commitment to working alongside Queen Rahmah and the other queens to advance these shared aspirations.
We wish them every success as they continue to represent Buganda and Uganda with grace, purpose and a commitment to service.
The meeting was also attended by Queen Rahmah’s official manager, Ms. Nadia Nabaggala.

We joined conservationists for the #RunForBirds2026 organised by @acus_uganda. This year's run highlighted the plight of our national bird, the Grey Crowned Crane threatened by the destruction of their habitat. Birds are a major symbol of our heritage.

More than a place for fire, Ekyotto was where elders passed on wisdom, values and traditions, and families shared stories and planned for the future.
