One Iranian voice worth watching closely at the moment is Mehdi Mohammadi, strategic affairs adviser to Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. - In his latest assessments, Mohammadi argues that signs of a new military confrontation, particularly between Iran and Israel, have intensified considerably and that the situation is approaching what he calls “zero hour.” - More significantly, he believes the political decision between Trump and Netanyahu has already been made, and that the remaining problems are mainly intelligence, operational and logistical ones. - Mohammadi’s assessments are not official statements and should not be treated as such. But they are repeatedly amplified by media and platforms close to Iran’s security establishment. - For that reason alone, I think what he is writing at the moment deserves to be taken seriously, not necessarily as a prediction of what will happen, but as an indication of how at least part of the Iranian security environment is reading the situation. #Iran

10-year yield "mayhem stage for France"
We've reached the mayhem stage for France. It's 10-year yield is exploding higher as is Italy's. Everyone else is getting safe haven inflows, notably the US and Germany. We've reached the stage where France's crisis is idiosyncratic and self-perpetuating. robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/…

🛑🇨🇵🇺🇸 French 10-year bond yield tops US for first time in 13 years 🛑🇨🇵🇺🇸 On Thursday France's 10-year bond yield exceeded the US 10-year for the first time since 2013, reflecting growing investor concern about deteriorating French public finances and a heavier debt burden. France's 10-year rose about 8 bps to roughly 5.09%; the US 10-year fell about 6.5 bps to 5.08% as stock-market volatility drove flows back into US Treasuries.

Starmer and Reeves almost destroyed the UK's public finances. Burnham is adamant about finishing the job, doubling down on the same mistakes that have obliterated France. No one resigns. The U.K. public sector borrowed £24.5 billion in September, £1.8 billion more than a year earlier and £1.9 billion above forecast. Borrowing reached £97.8 billion in the first six months of the financial year, £6 billion more than the OBR estimated. £10.9 billion was spent on debt interest in September alone. Big government, net zero insanity, high taxes, and wrong migration. Burnham wants to double down on all and join Germany and France, which are doing so well. What could go wrong? Everything

The crisis in France now has its own dynamic. The global average for 10-year gov't bond yields (black) has been falling lately, so it's all the more worrying that the 10-year yield for France is rising. This inevitably spills over to the rest of Europe... robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/…

FT More Oil Is Now Coming Out of the Persian Gulf Than Before the Iran War: WSJ "Given that the White House has shown no willingness to reach an understanding on the way forward, while also threatening more violence, there is little reason to expect progress now," Iranian FM Araghchi said in an FT op-ed. BBG UKMTO received a late report of a tanker struck by an unknown projectile 30 nautical miles southeast of Al Faw, Iraq, on Tuesday; crew reported safe.
