#sapsNC [INTELLIGENCE-DRIVEN OPERATION LEADS TO SIX ARRESTS AND SEIZURE OF HYBRID VEHICLES WORTH R4.7 MILLION IN COLESBERG] #SAPS in the Northern Cape has once again demonstrated the effectiveness of itell driven policing and inter-provincial collaboration following the seizure of six Jetour T2 Hybrid vehicles, collectively valued at approximately R4 752 000, and the arrest of six suspects in Colesberg.
The successful operation was the result of close cooperation between Crime Intelligence in the Western Cape and SAPS operational members in Colesberg, demonstrating the importance of sharing critical information and acting swiftly against suspected vehicle-related fraud and theft.
On Friday, 16/10, at approximately 14:40, Crime Intelligence in the Western Cape alerted SAPS Colesberg to information regarding six white Jetour T2 Hybrid vehicles allegedly travelling from Beaufort West towards Colesberg.
The information was immediately operationalised by members of the Highway Patrol, Colesberg Visible Policing and Hanover SAPS, who remained vigilant and strategically positioned themselves along the identified route.
The vehicles were subsequently spotted approximately 35 kilometres from Colesberg, travelling in the direction of the town. Each vehicle had one male occupant, who identified himself as the driver.
The drivers claimed that they were transporting the vehicles to an undisclosed destination in Pretoria.
Upon conducting further investigations, SAPS members discovered documents suspected to be fraudulent inside the vehicles. The matter was immediately escalated and further verification was conducted in collaboration with Crime Intelligence in the Western Cape.
The investigation established that the vehicles were allegedly fraudulently purchased, prompting the immediate impoundment of all six vehicles.
It was further established that six vehicles of the same make had already been impounded in Beaufort West by the Western Cape Crime Intelligence, bringing the total number of vehicles impounded in connection with the investigation to twelve.
The six vehicles seized in Colesberg have an estimated combined value of R4 752 000 (Four million seven hundred and fifty-two thousand rand).
Six case dockets have been registered at Colesberg SAPS, relating to the possession of suspected stolen vehicles.
The six male suspects, all South African citizens between the ages of 28 and 62, were arrested and detained for further investigation.
The items seized during the operation include:
• Six Jetour T2 Hybrid vehicles valued at approximately R4.752 million;
• 10 cellular phones; and
• Documents suspected to be fraudulent.
The six suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear in the Colesberg Magistrates’ Court soon. #TrioCrimes ME
