More of a theory, but:
I think the reason Silver is the only constant in a future in flux stems from a connection to the chaos emeralds, similar to Sonic's enhanced resilience and Shadow's chaos power, as he's one of the only characters to have a (currently) canon super form
Straight ass, but not in the sense that it's so much worse than any other game, or even that it released in a near unplayable state or anything
It's worse than both of those things
It's just dull
It just exists, and somehow that makes it feel worse than any other Sonic game ever
Chronicles? An interesting concept, and an amusing end product
06? It has ideas worth looking at again, and great character moments. P06 proves that it could have worked with more time in the oven
Boom? At least a fresh idea gameplay wise, and the spinoff show was great
People that do nothing but rag on 06 whenever it gets mentioned when you explain that liking a fan build of a game that removes the bugs and load times but keeps the game as a whole relatively unchanged is ok and that potential man is not a magic argument winning phrase:
