#RamayanaMovie #Scene #MookuthiAmman2 #Ramayanam Take a bow for outstanding music in #Ramayana @arrahman & @HansZimmer.. this is what soul stirring BGM is, apt for the scenes instead of the current style of giving sonic assault & mass hype background.. no disrespect to anyone
What Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman have achieved with Ramayana is something truly special. It isn't merely a magnificent soundtrack. It is musical storytelling of remarkable sensitivity, scale and restraint.
First, the use of silence. Perhaps one of the most beautiful aspects of the score is knowing when not to play. Silence is treated almost like another instrument. It allows a glance to linger, an emotion to breathe, a moment to find its own gravity. In a film of such epic proportions, the confidence to embrace silence is extraordinary. Sometimes, the absence of music speaks more profoundly than the grandest orchestral crescendo.
Then, the distinction between a musical theme and an underscore. This is where the craftsmanship becomes fascinating. The themes have their own melodic identities, emotional memories and narrative purpose. But the incidental score knows its place. Sometimes it simply breathes beneath a scene, subtly heightening what is already unfolding on screen. It never seems desperate to manufacture emotion or compete with the imagery. The music serves the storytelling, not the other way around. That restraint is the mark of great film scoring.
And then come those unforgettable musical moments.
The Rama Theme, with its quiet nobility and underlying strength. Sita's Aspiration, particularly when Rama and Sita first meet, where music seems to give a voice to feelings that words have yet to discover. Rama's Vow, carrying the weight of conviction. The exile, where sacrifice and heartbreak acquire an almost spiritual dimension. The forest coming back to life, where the score seems to awaken alongside nature itself. And the marriage sequence, where celebration, tenderness and grandeur come together so beautifully.
In contrast, Ravana's Theme and the Tandav inhabit an entirely different emotional universe. There is ferocity, majesty, darkness and an almost elemental force to the music. It doesn't simply announce a formidable character; it gives his presence a musical identity.
And finally, that extraordinary moment when Rama finds the conviction to believe in himself and rises to fight back. The music doesn't merely accompany his transformation. It makes you experience it from within. The emotional release, the sense of purpose, the sheer exhilaration. Pure goosebumps.
What makes all this remarkable is the understanding that a great score isn't about being loud, elaborate or constantly present. It is about musical architecture: knowing when to introduce a motif, when to let it evolve, when to build towards a crescendo, and, most importantly, when to withdraw.
You can sense the meeting of two extraordinary musical sensibilities: Zimmer's gift for monumental cinematic scale and Rahman's instinct for melody, spirituality and emotional intimacy. Yet the beauty lies in how naturally these worlds seem to converse.
The finest film music doesn't tell you what to feel. It discovers what you are already feeling and gives it a voice.
And at its very best, Ramayana achieves something even rarer.
You don't just hear the music. You carry it long after the screen goes dark.
That, to me, is the magic of cinema. And the genius of a truly great background score.

I am getting the news that film critics have given Thumbs up ๐ to Ramayana. The bigots who attempted to silence the music of AR Rahman are now getting silenced by Rahman himself. Donโt be surprised if you catch the same bigots watching the Ramayana in a multiplex.
