Have a great time at #SBBq, 2025 Society of Brazilian Biochemistry and Molecular Biology meeting. It is such a beautiful place north of São Paulo. Even better is to meet all other the panelist in our session, including the host Dr. Anna Okorokova. @UToledo_NSM @UToledo
Excited to be invited to Brazilian Society for Molecular Biology and Biochemistry annual meeting. I will give a talk on our work on #cytokinesis @UToledo_NSM @UToledo. Need to learn more Portuguese to find more future collaboration
Excited for our department @UToledo @UToledo_NSM 2025 Graduate Student Research Symposium. The President of Raissa is giving a great opening address
Sad to say goodbye to our summer exchange student Daphne! She brought so much energy and fun to our lab over the last six months, and lots of circumin for her study of #calcium spike in fission yeast @PombeSlack. Have a safe trip back to Brazil!
A honest day of work for a cell biologist is not to write paper or proposal. It is to install a new super heavy cell culture hood, with your graduate students @UToledo_NSM and your neighbors. Now we are ready to grow some tissue culture cells.
Celebrating 2nd year graduate student Pritha passing her qualifying exam with flying color! And welcome two new members to our group, the postdoc Ajay from India and the visiting student Daphne from Brazil. @UToledo @UToledo_NSM
#Eclipse2024 watching party at our campus @UToledo. Any minute now
A fruitful week comes to a end. A successful Research symposium celebrating our Department of Biology graduate students’ achievements @UToledo @UToledo_NSM . Amazing talks by students and wonderful keynote speaker George Stark. And spring break next week!
With red lantern and dragon decorations in my office, I am officially ready for #LunarDRAGON Chinese New Year 2024 in a week
Excited for our new imaging tool, a CO2 controller for our confocal. This will allow us to look into #cytokinesis of kidney and the role of #calcium
Had a great time visiting the Department of Medicine at @UToledoMed. First time giving seminar at 8 in the morning. It is surprisingly refreshing since you still have all the energy. Thank Gong Runjun, @MahasinOsman6 and all the students for telling me about their exciting works
Lesson learned from salvaging equipment from a retiring faculty’s lab. Don’t overbuy plastic racks and glasswares. They can always be recycled from somewhere. And old incubator is so much heavier than those new ones from Amazon.
Our student Pritha is attending her 1st @ASCBiology #cellbio2023 meeting. She is pulling a double-header today to present two posters, on how calmodulin regulates #cytokinesis and how motor protein #myosin works with a mechanosensitive channel in the cleavage furrow ingress ion
Two former Pollard lab alumni reunited at #cellbio2023. So excited to see the fantastic project @GossLab and his student Eli are working on, measuring Cell stiffness throughout #celldivisikn using Atomic force microscopy
The Chen lab reunion in Boston. Thank #cellbio2023 for reuniting us with the former student @abhpoddar from @UToledo_NSM who is now a postdoc in Boston. We had a great dinner at the restaurant Hunan Gourmet. Super spicy but highly recommended.
