All of you complaining about the state/direction of college football are wrong. Yes, all of you. I've been wanting to say this for awhile now, but I've held my water to think about it. We're simply living through the final evolution of what the sport would always become once the concept of "national champions" was introduced. Think about it: it was regionally driven before. Bowl games were meant to be the ultimate reward for a winning season. They were special because it'd often be the only opportunity for teams in different regions to play each other. The concept of "blue bloods?" Almost wholly driven by schools with the pull to dominate their spheres by stockpiling talent. Often unfairly so, in retrospect. Which brings me to my next point: NIL. Still a new concept schools are all learning to navigate in real time. But under-the-table, backroom deals were how blue bloods became so in the first place. NIL just removed the veil from a concept that'd been in play for eons. You don't hate NIL or transferring--you hate that you know about it. The cloak and dagger shit is over, and that's a good thing. Wanna be a "blue blood?" Pony up like one. Or lean on your pre-modern era name built on a clandestine, unfair system until it's no longer an effective recruiting tool for young recruits who want to win (several examples of this, such as Nebraska). Which brings me to my final point: the expanding playoff. I've heard all your counterarguments to playoff expansion, but they all have a critical flaw: the size of the sport. Simply put, there are too many schools nationally to justify a playoff with only 4, 8, or even 12 teams. And a playoff is the only legitimate way to determine a true national champion in a field this large (and in a sport where styles of play and injuries greatly affect matchups and outcomes). Subjective rankings are a joke (too often affected by bias/initial rank. Teams that begin ranked high often take a long time to slide out of the polls, even after horrific losses. Conversely, many good teams never climb very high if they began ranked low or unranked). Great for debate, but a poor method of predicting on-field results. Which brings me to my final point: competition. America's true national pastime. Why do we watch games that have zero bearing on our favorite team with enthusiastic interest? We love to see the results of school's best efforts against each other. We want to see who is truly the best head to head when the stakes are high. Not "national champions" determined by journalists or due to favorable schedules against tepid comp. In an expanded playoff system, the regular season isn't devalued: it is enhanced. An early loss doesn't end your season--it shows where a team must improve to achieve their goals. A weak schedule isn't rewarded with a fool's gold high ranking simply for insulating yourself from legitimate comp and getting up for a good team (that has a harder row to hoe) a couple of times a year. Upsets will still happen. Juggernauts will still happen. And they will be more legitimate because there's nowhere to hide anymore. There are fewer gimmes. Can't coast on perception or hoard talent. You must reevaluate and intentionally reload every year, or you WILL get got. You don't hate where college football is headed. You just hate living through the change you knew would eventually come. Honestly, it's a shame it's taken this long. But now that it's here, show me how good you really are. Year in and year out, no matter what logo is on your helmet. Put the rock down, and let's ball 🏈

I could (& have). Many (I'd hazard even most) men cannot. Many of them run cover for themselves by simply calling any woman with a higher sex drive than they can achieve a "whore," "slut," or, "nymph," re-framing it as if there's something wrong with HER πŸ™„ Get your stamina up, boys.
"A woman cannot have a higher sex drive than a man" I had at least 7 orgasms daily since right before puberty. Could you go 7+ times a day, boys? 😏 Cuz y'all are forgetting women have far shorter refractory periods than you do...

Me too. Anyone who speaks on the Spurs/Kawhi split and doesn't know or recognize the name Will Sevening doesn't know what they're talking about.

I really do wish the Spurs medical staff would’ve sued him back when this was a big thing but I just know Pop told them not to. He legit tarnished their reputation for so long it’s actually disgusting just thinking about it.

It is shameful how many people still think the Spurs tried to force Kawhi to play.

This girl is an embarrassment to A&M. She doesn't know her history (she transposed "1876" as the year A&M first admitted black students--that was the year the university was FOUNDED). Texas A&M's mascot is a dog named "Reveille." She enjoys status as the highest ranking member of the Corps of Cadets. Texas A&M is a Senior Military College (exact same congressional mandate for military training as The Citadel, VMI, Norwich, etc.--TAMU didn’t admit our first "nonreg" (non-military) student until 1965--only 2 years after integrating women and minorities in 1963 (and the civil right act passed in 1964). Reveille became A&M's mascot in 1931, over 30 years prior to the civil rights act and integration. She gets her name from what the cadets who took her in so dubbed her after the mutt they picked up to care for after a car accident got excited to hear the morning bugle call (a tune known as "Reveille). A dog becoming the mascot for my Fightin' Texas Aggies had literally nothing to do with elevating a dog over black people, and I'm disappointed that she'd even think to go there in her misguided thought process. I'm not calling her dumb, but she should also know that Texas A&M discontinued affirmative action admissions back in 2003 (a point of fierce pride for me, as I was accepted in 2006). And the school's black and hispanic admissions GREW even faster than those at texas university in austin. Grew with minorities who EARNED their way in, rather than simply checking a box on the school's diversity metrics. She'd do well to honor that legacy by applying critical thought to her incorrect stance asserting black people or minorities cannot be racist. Her feeble "prejudice" rejoinder doesn't follow, either, as prejudice based on skin color is literally racism by definition. youtu.be/wTM8uc6IZKA?is=6DBn…

I once had a black friend of a friend imply I couldn't be knowledgeable about basketball because I was too "well-spoken." That thinking never made sense to me. And that dude shut up after I gave him buckets and an L of his very own to cherish πŸ€£πŸ€

A guy from my high schoolβ€”a star running back who set all sorts of rushingβ€”records was always ostracized as β€œnot being black enough” because he studied, made straight As, and spoke proper English. He went on to play football at Rice and has gone on to bigger and better things in life. Meanwhile, most of the ones who badmouthed him have led less than noteworthy livesβ€”many winding up behind bars. Never made any sense to me why some people feel the need to intentionally dumb themselves down just to fit in.

"Good girls" (phrase used in a puritanical, asexual context, of course) tend to be boring, poor lovers (same can be said for many "good guys"). "Bad girls" tend to be more forthcoming about their intentions and desires. Secure men tend to favor more forthrightness from women, especially on matters of a sexual nature. Unobfuscated sexual communication tends to beget more genuine interactions and relationships between men and women.

That's really all it is with me. I despise ambiguity in communication, so I strive to avoid it in my own by selecting words that most precisely reflect my intended message. If the other person needs to Google or @grok to ascertain the intended meaning in order to fashion their response, that's fine (I have to do the same when I encounter an unfamiliar word or phrase; and I appreciate not only the effort on the other party's behalf to convey their precise meaning, but also learning someth new for myself).

How dare you (checks notes) use the words that most precisely articulate what you’re trying to say.

The, "Howdy!" greeting is just official campus culture at Texas A&M, and rather stridently enforced (though never to the degree "Old Army" Ags would prefer, of course πŸ˜‚). It's considered rude to pass someone on campus without saying, "Howdy," (to the point that, "HOWDY, DAMMIT!" is considered to be a permissible upbraid toward someone who fails to return a genial, "howdy!" with one of their own).

Remember when nephew quit on the Spurs because SA said his injury was degenerative and required lifelong maintenance? Now, the overcompensation has his β€œgood” knee sidelined for weeks. The Spurs’ medical receipts always clear
Toronto's Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss a period of weeks due to swelling in his left knee, sources tell ESPN. MRI on Leonard's knee showed no structural damage, but sides will use the shorter term to ramp him back up after the stoppages during the offseason.
