Tim Schafer, director de Double Fine revelo que la salida del estudio quedó sentenciada tras el retiro de Phil Spencer.
Schafer comenta que Phil veía a Double Fine como un estudio ideal para Game Pass, no necesariamente produciría enormes éxitos comerciales, pero aportaría juegos diferentes al catálogo. Ese era el acuerdo implícito que posteriormente cambió.
También comento que Keeper y Kiln si fueron fracasos comerciales, pero cree que ni siquiera mejores resultados habrían cambiado el desenlace a menos que hubieran tenido un éxito del tamaño de Minecraft.

Microsoft estaría trabajando en emulador que permita ejecutar juegos de Xbox original y Xbox 360 en PC sin necesidad de desarrollar un port para cada título.
Xbox se encargaría de toda la ingeniería y soporte técnico. Pero cada editora conservaría el control sobre los derechos y el precio de sus títulos, por lo que deberá decidir si participa o no en el programa.
En otras palabras, Microsoft pondría la tecnología, pero el catálogo dependería de la autorización de cada propietario de la licencia.
