Patrick Evan’s Profile- Coming off a monster season at Florence-Darlington Tech where he helped lead The Stingers to the Junior College World Series for the second straight year, Patrick Evans will bring his talents to the Gamecocks. Evans was a major get for the Gamecocks this offseason and managed to avoid him taking multiple draft opportunities. The Lexington product was a First Team JUCO All-American, The Region 10 Player of the Year, and he set the single season record for hits at Florence-Darlington. His numbers during that historic season ultimately accumulated to a .453/.509/.700 slash line with 15 doubles, 10 home runs and 75 RBI. While a major threat at the plate, he can also get you on the base paths as he swiped 18 bags last season leading to an all around elite/complete offensive profile. While his offensive profile might be the sexiest on the team his defensive profile has a lot of questions. Errors have bitten him quite a bit in the past as he had 16 last season at Florence-Darlington. Those said errors have led to a lot of position question marks and while he continues to battle Dawson Harman at third base, he has also tried a few other positions this fall like left field and catcher. It was even stated that pro scouts may even see Evans as a catcher in pro ball. One thing remains certain though that even with his defensive questions, Patrick Evans profiles as a huge contributor for the Gamecocks this season.
