NEW: In August, UT president's office reserved the LBJ auditorium for an unnamed event. That event, students realized this week, is TPUSA's Ben Shapiro talk Oct. 7.
UT said events staff in the office were consulted about venues bc of security concerns.⬇️

How much of this fundraising goal went to pay for @hasanthehun’s speaking fee? Is he still charging 4-5 figure amounts to speak at college events? Are you required to publicly disclose this information?

With 3 days to go till the event, we needed $20,000 more dollars to fund this event. We were struggling to find the money, and then this community came in and supported us in ways no one else did. We at @UDems are eternally grateful!

The student talked about the death threats and blueprint planning of an attempted assassination of Hasan that some unhinged people have been engaging in online. The amount of hurdles that Hasan and the University Democrats have had to endure over the past few weeks to uphold their rights to free speech is insane.

Hasan explained that not only does he speak at these college campuses for free and pay out of pocket for his travel, but it is a fee that the University is supposed to be covering innately. It is a needless hurdle that they are hurling at his event because Hasan is an anti-Zionist. Hasan also highlighted the fact that people like Ben Shapiro get paid to speak at these campuses from alumni and various organizations. Hasan does not get paid for any of his speeches or appearances. People never keep the same energy for Republicans.
