Our students are not test subjects. We cannot replace educators with algorithms.
Across the country, companies like Alpha Schoolsare pushing an AI-driven model with no educators, no real accountability, and no meaningful public oversight—just screens, surveillance, and sky-high tuition dressed up as “innovation.”
In Pennsylvania, officials flat out said the model“fails to demonstrate”how it would meet academic standards. Now they’re trying to bring that same experiment to Chicago.
When one privatization scheme collapses, another one pops up with new branding but the same goal: strip public schools for parts and replace people with profit-driven tech.

This article from The New Republic really resonated with us: “It Can Now Be Plainly Said: Trump Is Planning a November Coup d’État.” What it describes isn’t abstract, it’s already showing up in our schools.
Attacks on teaching the truth. Book bans. Pressure to replace educator judgment with AI. This isn’t about improving education. It’s about control.
When that happens, students, educators, and communities lose.

We've seen CPS bus ads before, but not like this.
For the first time ever, Chicago Public Schools isn’t advertising school closures or non-privatized charters. Instead, they’re announcing that they are reabsorbing charter schools back into fully funded, district-run public schools.
Organizing and public pressure forced CPS to turn away from school closures and toward reinvestment in public schools.
As private charter corporations try to close schools, we will continue to organize with parents, students and educators to shift away from privatization to a district of sustainable community schools.
