Anyone who did this to me, I would leave so quickly their head would spin.
I have an older gentleman who comes into the shop about once a week. He’s very quiet, says hello, browses books for half an hour or so, finds something he likes, leaves. Today he told me that he has spent years trying to rebuild his library after his wife decided she was

I recently did an interview with Adam C. Jones of @acidhorizonpod about the book, acid communism and the sonic imagination. Prepping for the interview, I wrote out some notes which went largely unused. Here are those notes, in written interview form. alexanderbillet.substack.com…

It feels like we're losing a lot of brilliant comrades lately...
It is with immense sadness and grief that we at Historical Materialism share the news of the death of our comrade, friend and long-standing member of the journal’s editorial board, Peter Thomas.

Motherfucker, you tell me who to pay to never hear from this ginger canker sore again and I’ll empty my bank account.
£10,000,000 but you can never listen to an Ed Sheeran song again. Would you take it?

Congrats, folks, after 3 years of genocide, 20 of siege & blockade, 59 of occupation & apartheid, 78 of ethnic cleansing, and a century and a half of colonization - all enabled & justified by media like the New York Times - we've finally reached peak Hot Dog Suit Guy
A fair question: How did humanity allow Gaza to happen? And the answer is not just about Israel, but also about the role of the US in particular in providing the 2,000-pound bombs and diplomatic support that resulted in this. Democrats and Republicans alike bear responsibility.

Iggy Pop described the new Protomartyr as "highly themed & symphonic in its reach. I could call it a kind of drive-through Sgt. Peppers, but that would miss the mark." For POW, @UbuPamplemousse writes a poignant essay about "Hotel Usona," the bleak moment, and trying to "find hope in a dismal establishment." powmag.net/p/protomartyr-hot…

The rights of property before humans. Same as it ever was…
unfortunately AI safety is in the hands of lunatics who believe that if you shut down a computer you might be "killing" it and violating its rights

AI can’t “think.” It can carry out processes. Conflating the two carries profoundly dangerous (though potentially profitable) implications.
Incidentally, the claim that AI “thinks” is not really a technical claim about LLMs, but a philosophical claim about thought; behind each such claim is a really dreadful, impoverished philosophy of mind.
