#IBSA [ #INTERVIEW ] Today, Ambassador @XolisaMabhongo , South Africa’s #IBSA Sherpa, chaired an interdepartmental meeting of South African Government departments to coordinate priorities and programmes for South Africa’s ongoing #IBSA Chairship. Departments presented their respective work plans and outlined key initiatives to be advanced over the year ahead. Guided by the theme “Peace, Prosperity and Development”, South Africa’s Chairship will be advanced through the three pillars of IBSA: political engagement on global and regional issues; technical cooperation through Working Groups and people-to-people exchanges; and the implementation of tangible, transformative development projects through the IBSA Facility for Hunger and Poverty Alleviation #IBSAFund Through its Chairship, South Africa seeks to strengthen South-South cooperation, advance a shared development agenda, and promote inclusive social and economic upliftment within IBSA countries ( India 🇮🇳 , Brazil 🇧🇷 & South Africa 🇿🇦 ) and across the Global South. The IBSA Fund, which has allocated more than US$53 million and supported 49 projects across 37 countries, exemplifies the value of practical, demand-driven South-South cooperation—delivering tangible benefits through initiatives shaped by the needs and priorities of the communities they serve. @DIRCO_ZA @IndianDiplomacy @IndiaMFA @govbrazil

Today with my Friend @RonaldLamola the South Minister for International Relations and cooperation co-chaired a third session of the South Africa- Uganda joint commission of cooperation. We emphasized the need to deepen our cooperation through trade, mining, ICT and tourism, and orderly migration. I welcomed the introduction of the extended travel authorization (ETA) which in a short time has enabled travelers to get travel clearance in a short time, as we conclude the processes leading to the signing of an agreement on visa waivers for holders of ordinary passports.
