FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ADC: N50,000 PAYMENT AN ELECTION GIMMICK, SHOWS TINUBU’S DESPERATION
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described the Federal Government’s sudden announcement of a N50,000 monthly cash relief as an election gimmick, driven by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s desperation rather than any genuine concern for millions of suffering Nigerians thrown into hardship by the government’s own cruel economic policies.
In a statement signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, the ADC said the timing of the announcement raises serious questions about the government's motives, claiming that the intervention is only a panic reaction by the Tinubu government to the opposition party’s promise to reduce the cost of living and to make life more affordable for Nigerians if it comes into power in next year’s general election.
"President Tinubu is in full panic mode now. Since the ADC and our Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have made affordability and reducing the cost of living the cardinal focus of our campaign, the government has been announcing one desperate intervention or another. In August, they announced a $1 billion so-called ‘Renewed Hope Social Intervention Fund’. But it was only an announcement, nothing more. Then, they announced a 30-day fuel discount, which made no sense. Then they announced the so-called cheaper transportation by October 1 across the states. Again, nothing happened. They have also announced a N70,000 transportation allowance to workers. Now, it is N50,000 for everyone. They are just thrashing around, hoping that something would stick,” Abdullahi said.
The ADC questioned what meaningful relief N50,000 could provide to an average Nigerian household under the prevailing economic conditions.
“What exactly is N50,000 supposed to buy in Tinubu’s Nigeria today? How much food can a family purchase with that amount? How much transport can it cover? And for how long? Petrol prices have risen roughly sevenfold. Food and transportation costs have followed, not to talk of the cost of basic drugs. It is just a desperate and cynical attempt to buy back the goodwill of the people. But it is too little, too late,” the party said.
The ADC said the Tinubu administration had the chance to address the underlying causes of poverty in the country but failed to do so.
“They mismanaged their own economic reforms. Everyone warned them that what they were doing and how they were doing it would only make life difficult for the people. Their only reaction for three years was to tell the people to continue to endure. If they could give N50,000 to vulnerable Nigerians, why didn’t they factor it into reform plans from day one rather than make it an election-season handout? It’s either they didn’t think of it, which makes them dangerously incompetent, or they simply chose to leave the people to suffer and wait for the election to throw them crumbs, which makes them dangerously wicked.”
The ADC also warned that programmes such as the announced intervention fund have been characterised by a lack of accountability, which poses the real risk that this could be another opportunity for diverting public funds. The party recalled a recent report by the Auditor-General that raises questions over similar funds under the Tinubu government.
"What has happened to the findings of the Auditor-General concerning the billions of naira in previous cash transfers that could not be properly accounted for? Have those responsible been held accountable? How can a government that has failed to explain what happened to its previous intervention funds expect Nigerians to trust it with another programme involving billions of naira?"

The religious card has expired. What remains for Bola Tinubu in 2027?
In Taraba yesterday, worshippers walked out of a Jumu’ah mosque when an imam tried to campaign for the Muslim-Muslim ticket inside the place of worship. Reports indicate the congregation nearly turned on him. This was not an isolated rejection of an imam; it was a rejection of the idea that religion can still be weaponised to demand loyalty after four years of hardship.
You cannot tell a hungry Muslim to vote for Tinubu because of a Muslim-Muslim ticket that delivered inflation, food shortages, and widespread poverty. You cannot ask the North to renew its support for the same arrangement when the President has failed to protect lives and livelihoods. Sentiments does not fill the stomach, and it does not stop bandits.
After nearly four years in power, any serious re-election effort must rest on measurable results and kept promises. Appeals to faith, tribe, or region will no longer suffice. Nigerians are living with the consequences of the current policies. They will not grant a second term simply to deepen the same pain.
Atiku Abubakar offers the clearest contrast. He has consistently refused to play the religious or ethnic card. His campaigns have been framed around policy, competence, and national cohesion rather than identity. That approach demonstrates a politician more interested in governing a functional Nigeria than in capturing power at any cost. Growing numbers of Nigerians now see that distinction, and 2027 will test it at the ballot.
Tinubu has alienated voters across the North and the South, and among both Muslims and Christians. He spent his years in office securing governors and lawmakers while ordinary citizens absorbed the costs of his reforms. In 2027 those citizens will deliver their verdict.
On the evidence of performance and public sentiment, Tinubu currently has no credible pathway to re-election.

Where is Imran U. Wakili?
By his own account, police officers stormed the home of @IU_Wakilii on Thursday, towed his car, seized his younger brother in his place, and ordered him to report to the station. He said he was on his way. Since then, his family has heard nothing. This is what Bola Tinubu's APC government has made of Nigeria: a country where a young man's opinions can cost him his liberty, and where the police take a brother hostage to bring a critic in.
Let me be clear. If Imran is in police custody, the Nigeria Police must say so today, tell his family where he is being held, state the charge against him, and give him access to his lawyer. Holding a citizen in silence is not policing; it is intimidation, and Nigerians see it for exactly what it is. Bola may silence one voice, but he cannot silence a nation that is already hungry, angry, and watching.
As President, I will restore the rule of law, protect every Nigerian's right to speak freely, and ensure that no citizen ever disappears for holding the government to account. Criticism is not a crime.
Free Imran now. -AA
100 REASONS WHY NIGERIA NEEDS ATIKU — REASON #61!
Housing is not a luxury; it is a basic human necessity. Millions of Nigerian families deserve access to decent, affordable homes.
Atiku Abubakar recognises housing as both a social responsibility and an economic opportunity. By encouraging private-sector investment in affordable housing and improving access to mortgages, Nigeria can create jobs, stimulate economic growth and give more families a place to call home.
Nigeria needs practical solutions, visionary leadership and policies that deliver results.
The conversation continues. 100 reasons, one vision: A better Nigeria!

Are these people abnormal or just shameless? They say ₦10bn for solar power at Aso Villa is a favour to Nigerians because it will leave more electricity for us. The President gets a reliable supply; families and businesses are told to be grateful for whatever the grid leaves behind. What kind of reasoning is that?

TINUBU HAS BUILT NOTHING EXCEPT A SOLAR FARM TO POWER HIS COMFORT IN ASO ROCK, WHILE NIGERIANS SUFFER — ADC-PCC
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has described as an insult to Nigerians the statement credited to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, declaring that “The Question Is What We Build, Not How Much We Borrow.”
The ADC-PCC challenged President Tinubu to identify what his administration has actually built with the mountain of loans it has accumulated since assuming office in 2023 insisting that Nigerians have seen little or no tangible returns on the country's growing debt burden.
The campaign council's reaction was contained in a statement issued by its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja.
Ologbondiyan said it was particularly disturbing that Mr Onanuga would attempt to dress the President in borrowed garments by speaking about infrastructure and development when, according to the ADC-PCC, the administration has failed to demonstrate commensurate achievements despite unprecedented borrowing.
He alleged that the only visible project associated with the administration's concern for electricity is a solar farm installed to guarantee power supply within the comfort of the Presidential Villa, while millions of Nigerians continue to grapple with unreliable electricity.
Ologbondiyan pointed out that "For three and a half wasted years, TInubu government has borrowed without restraint and built nothing. No value, no legacy, no impact.
“Except for projects inherited from the late President Muhammadu Buhari, many of the projects being advertised by the Tinubu administration are nothing but audio projects. They exist only on paper, as conceptual designs or as announcements on newspaper pages and television screens.
“Under Tinubu, virtually every project exists in a press statement.
“Where is the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway? Audio. Where is the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway? Audio. Where is the Trans-Sahara Superhighway? Audio. Where are the promised electricity grid upgrades? All propaganda, no commensurate progress, just media hype from Bayo Onanuga and his team.
“Even the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway, awarded more than eight years ago, remains a source of concern to motorists. Its prolonged construction and delays tell the story of APC governance.
“Mr President must wake up and confront the reality facing Nigerians, if there is still left between now and January 16.
Citizens are hungry and enduring excruciating hardship. People are dying from hunger, insecurity and deprivation, while the government remains preoccupied with propaganda and self-congratulatory statements.
“These are the real signposts of what the Tinubu administration has built in almost four years.
“Today, ministries are barely functioning, agencies are struggling, and critical directorates are failing to deliver. Nigeria is practically comatose.
"The Tinubu Presidency came into power without a convincing blueprint or workable ideas and, after almost four years, has offered Nigerians little beyond failure, hardship, poverty and insecurity.
“If borrowing is truly for development, let President Tinubu show Nigerians one tangible project his administration has delivered with its trillions of naira in loans, beyond the solar farm in the Presidential Villa.
“The only thing this administration has successfully built is hardship.
“We appeal to international donors, development partners and financial institutions to exercise greater scrutiny and insist on accountability, transparency and prudence before extending further loans to Nigeria.
“Borrowing is not inherently wrong when the benefits translate into improved living conditions for citizens. What is unacceptable is a situation in which the country continues to accumulate debts without corresponding benefits for the people.
“Nigerians must not be compelled to...

“Nigerians must not be compelled to continue financing the luxury, proligacy and privileged lifestyle of those in power while ordinary citizens wallow in poverty.
" Future generations should not be burdened with debts incurred without demonstrable benefits to them.
“The National Assembly must rise to its constitutional responsibility and save the country from being mortgaged through indiscriminate borrowings. It must stop acting as a rubber stamp for every loan request and defend the economic future of Nigeria.
