What was the point of Wes Streeting telling us that we must be ready for war in 1000 days?
Was this some kind of media stunt to reassure us that nothing would happen for three years because he knows he’s not getting any meaningful money for defence in the near future, and Burnham has kicked the defence spending review down the road for another year? Or was it because that will take him conveniently beyond the next general election?
But let's not worry, instead of building up our nation's military capacity the government has issued a national 'Be Ready' campaign to get us all stockpiling tinned goods and water. I am sure the Russian Military will be quaking in their boots knowing we are all armed with extra tins of baked beans in the cupboard!
We all know Andy Burnham would sooner spend taxpayers' money on benefits than defence of the nation, so if Wes Streeting needs to tell anyone we must be prepared for war, it is the Prime Minister not the rest of us.

Manhunt launched as arrest made in Enfield fatal shooting
Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of Erdem Mustafa have named a man they urgently need to trace and are appealing to the public for help.
Police want to speak to 35 year-old Abreham Woldegiworgis in connection with the incident. He is an Ethiopian national, who has links to the Enfield, Haringey and Brixton areas.
Anyone who sees him is urged to not approach but contact police immediately. Officers believe Woldegiworgis is the person captured in the CCTV image released last week, but he has since significantly altered his appearance.
The fresh appeal comes after a 23 year old man was arrested on Monday, 26th October on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. He remains in police custody.
Met detectives are continuing their investigation into the murder of Erdem, aged 35year old at a pub in Hertford Road, Enfield.
At around 21:30hrs on Monday, 19th October, officers attended the incident alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.
The emergency services treated Erdem for gunshot wounds, but he was sadly later pronounced dead at the scene. Specialist officers are supporting his next of kin.
Investigators continue to urge anyone with information about the incident, which is believed to be a targeted attack, to contact police.

HE WAS ALSO ORDERED TO COMPLETE 120 HOURS OF UNPAID WORK AND 25 REHABILITATION DAYS!!!!
