After analyzing 32 million ride-hail trips in Chicago, a not-so-great conclusion:
"Ride-hailing is predominantly being used to travel between highly accessible areas which should be accessed using more sustainable transport modes."

Note that Chicago is one of the very few US cities that collects ride hail trip data. In most places Uber and Lyft have blocked cities from getting it (Seattle, Portland, NYC, and DC are exceptions).
