Chicken turtles are so interesting. This photo shows the long necks that this species has, which they utilize in their suction feeding to catch aquatic insects. Excited to have this new project with them. #alabamaisforturtles
Enjoyed talking with my good buddy, @MWindelspecht, about urban turtles. Give it a listen!

Ol male river cooter was about to have a bad end to his Monday if some nice people hadn’t stopped to usher him across the road. I scooped him up to get him back in a nearby creek. #urbanturtles #habitatfragmentation
Fecal samples can provide interesting data on feeding ecology of animals. But, when I recaptured AST #4000 back in June, she gave me a very interesting sample. It contained bones of a recently ingested adult stripe-necked musk turtle. #apexpredator #turtleseatingturtles
Excited to see this big guy again. In collaboration with Dr Scott Rush from MSU, we put a gps tag on this alligator snapper last year to study his movements in an urban river habitat. #alabamaisforturtles #urbanturtles
Started a collaborative project with @CoosaRiverkeepr and @BWRiverkeeper today. Excited to see what get in the traps tomorrow.
We were out today in Gadsden with @AlabamaTurtles. Excited to see what we find tomorrow on the #coosariver!
