It is with great pleasure that we announce that we have endorsed the BC Urban, Rural, and Northern Indigenous Housing Strategy developed by the @ahma_bc In addition to improving housing conditions for Indigenous Peoples in urban, rural, and northern areas, the 10-Year Housing Strategy will also reduce government costs, improve socioeconomic and health outcomes, and ensure all residents in British Columbia have access to affordable, safe, and culturally appropriate housing (British Columbia Urban, Rural, and Northern Indigenous Housing Strategy 2022). By implementing the Housing Strategy, the health and well-being of Indigenous Peoples will improve and deliver significant social returns. In addition to increasing income available for discretionary spending, decreasing homelessness costs, creating indirect employment through increased spending, and generating increased government revenue through ongoing property and income taxes, are some of the benefits.
