Breaking news: D.C. government leaders are deliberating over whether to sue to block President Trump’s planned triumphal arch, increasing the legal pressure on the project as a federal judge weighs whether to halt it, according to three people. wapo.st/4Bs7jGC

Pilots at DCA weren’t too happy about the flyover over D.C. this evening. “How many more fly-bys is he doing?” one pilot asked, according to @theATCapp recordings. “Hopefully that’s the last,” an air traffic controller replied. washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/…

“In a city that still vividly remembers the deadly 2025 crash near Reagan National Airport and the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the flyover caused some concern.” (WaPo) So yeah, Kevin. Comms across social and news media prior to 5:24pm that a low alt 747 is circling would be great.

And if notifying the people who live here and experienced 9/11 would be unsafe, then maybe don’t do the jet it at all! We’re used to jets and helicopters literally every day. A 747 at less than 1k feet is a not the same thing.

Air Force One low flying over our heads in DC feels like a cruel trick without warning. This picture doesn’t do it justice but it flew right over a family Halloween event in otherwise restricted air space at a tilt and altitude that made wonder if this was it lol

@alyssafowers tracked down 38 giant skeletons around the District. Many were standard 12-foot skeletons, but others went in … different directions. Here's which skellies stand out above the rest. dc.citycast.fm/best/dc-12-fo…

Never ever ever ever ever.
As a Gun Person and Not A Racist I feel honor-bound to point out that the “gun bros” are very correct. You should never in any circumstances have your finger on the trigger of a weapon you are not prepared to fire—loaded or not, no matter what safety systems are in place. Ever.

my favorite part of any Slow Horses season is when we get to the inevitable "River Cartwright gets dog-walked in a fight" scene ... there are usually two or three a year, it's wonderful

"THIS BELONGS IN A MUSEUM"
Replying to @DanLamothe
A group dispatched by Hegseth's team in February attempted to move the historic globe, said to be used by Eisenhower during World War II. They lifted it from its home in an Army office in the Pentagon ... and dropped it.

For @testudotimes, @JudeWilkenfeld and I were outside Jones-Hill House trying to get players to comment. An athletics staffer took pictures of us, and a police dispatch was called for suspicious activity; a cop and 2 cop cars pulled up, and officers ID’d us and asked us to leave.

I refer to South Dakota Ave as 'Trash Island' daily though. Seriously who are you people throwing your full bags of garbage out the window at traffic lights every gas station has a trash can!
I've been in D.C. for 25 years and have never once heard a resident or visitor refer to East Potomac Park as "Trash Island." I don't know that it even has a trash problem! That being said, this is where the East Wing was dumped after it was demolished...

As long as we’re talking about anecdotal experience… I approached the elevator at the Dupont metro with my 2 year old in a stroller in afterschool hours recently, and the crowd of teens stepped aside, with one boy saying “let Mom go first” so I mean, experience may vary
Dupont metro stop is often crowded with kids after school— being rowdy and smoking in public. It’s become a problem and there’s usually police stationed there. This was on a random afternoon at the end of August ⬇️ Teen takeovers are running the city.
