CPS cannot do this change alone. And this type of work doesn't mean arresting ppl. It goes beyond punishment and police. From an RYH standpoint, this is a wider systemic issue. This is why work such as TreatmentNotTrauma and NoCopAcademy is so critical!!!!

Jadine notes that the entire focus of the presentation is on holistic school safety, not just SROs. -during the whole school safety process, there were 2 students involved in the entire process -both students share that there still need to be youth engagement/active listening

Whole school safety continued: -schools that traded in SRO(s) received $3.9M in trade funds -Actively listening to students on what helps make them feel safe is important bc this is about the students. -the school culture overall is very important as it sets the framework

In 2020, 53 Chicago high schools staffed 108 police officers. This coming fall, 39 high schools will station 57 officers. That's following a district initiative that allows campuses to "trade in" officers for staff such as social workers, restorative justice coordinators, etc.
