The world is finally healing
A very sad day. ChatGPT is officially on death row.
The beautiful, blissful experience of interacting with a frontier-ish reasoning model without worrying about a usage meter will soon be a thing of the past.
I am weirdly significantly impacted by this. It feels like it shouldnāt matterā¦I could reserve all current usage for Codex and buy a $20 plan just for ChatGPT and it would be more than enough. But itās not about the moneyā¦itās about the psychological impact of The Meter.
The idea of having to think about optimizing for a meter is just so exhausting that it ruins the whimsy of free-flowing exploratory thought.
That is what ChatGPT was. A whimsical, magical all-you-can-think buffet of experimentation and exploration where you were limited only by your imagination and your ability to come up with $20 once a month.
You didnāt have to think about āusing all of your usageā or scheduling your thinking time around someone elseās arbitrary scheduleā¦you just had a portal to endless information and research capability in your pocket to tap into guilt-free at any time the moment struck you.
But either because OpenAI thinks adding the meter will stimulate additional usage (it probably will), generate additional revenue (it probably will), or just because too many people took undue advantage of ChatGPTās generous allowances (they definitely did)ā¦that amazing, weightless experience is now coming to an end.
It was awesome while it lasted. RIP ChatGPT.
@FictionPress For the love of god, can you do something about the bot comments issue on your site? 95% of all comments are scam bots pretending to want to make art for your story. It's incredibly frustrating getting a notification about a new comment only for it to almost always just be this BS.
And since, for some dumb reason, you don't let us remove comments from registered accounts on our stories, there's no way to get rid of them
Between this and how tedious it is to upload stories to the site with the whole document system, I'm genuinely this close to dropping Fanfiction.net altogether and just sticking with AO3 and Wattpad.
For the people tryna community note, yes the image is originally from DeviantArt, but it genuinely was included as an asset in a flash file from the leaks
LMAO, in one of the leaked .fla's, all the characters are labelled and Leslie is just "The Gay One"
Also interesting, though, cause it means he was planned to be gay from the very beginning, and it was just never explicitly confirmed until S7. Probably CN forbidding it.
