The Trump administration just took massive positive steps to crack down on the tariff fraud I’ve been ranting about for the last year. Credit where it’s due this is great policy.

Hey @DOGE can you get one of your guys to scrape import records against prices on Amazon/Walmart?
You will find BILLIONS in fraud!

Thousands, and then millions, of American small businesses, including many iconic brands, will go bankrupt this year if the tariff policies on China don’t change.

FYI: The new tariff rules won’t hurt China long term.
They’ll kill the honest U.S. importers—and hand the market to those who:
- Lie on their invoices to pay less duties
- Fake their country of origin
However, there is a fix.
We need to pair this policy with a simple enhanced enforcement framework.
1. Ownership Chain
If you want to sell into the US:
- Disclose the full ownership structure down to the individuals—not just the LLC. No pass-throughs, no fake directors.
2. Compliance Risk Score
Build a model that automatically flags high-risk shipments:
- Declared invoice value vs market average (by HTS code)
- Unusual routing patterns (China → Vietnam → U.S.)
- First-time importers moving high volume
3. U.S. Person Accountable for All Imports
Every container should be signed off by a U.S. citizen—a certified importer.
That person certifies:
- Invoice value
- HTS code
- Country of origin
If it’s fraud, they should be criminally liable - real consequences.
Honest importers would love to play by these rules, because they are FAIR.

Every state in the union should pass a law that any seller on a digital marketplace MUST have a verified American address and must pay all applicable taxes and fees, otherwise it’s illegal and THE MARKETPLACE will be liable for $10k per instance
THIS will accelerate the growth of our online sellers faster than anything

Get these Chinese companies to pay to sell online in the USA and you will raise money to reduce the debt. And reduce the number of knockoffs , helping entrepreneurs.
This is insane. @realDonaldTrump @andrewrsorkin @CNBC @SquawkCNBC @JoeSquawk
This is insanity.
Foreign companies can sell in the U.S. without a single piece of paper with the US or State government.
Almost every single other country in the world requires registration and taxes.
We are giving the world a free lunch with free access to the best economy ever
