Some advice for high school athletes:
-Take a professional approach to your handle and user name. Your actual name works best; not just a first name or nickname.
-If you use AI to create a post (which I wouldn’t recommend, but I know it’s going to happen), check the results for accuracy. I saw an all-conference post today listing a conference that doesn’t exist.

"You don’t get rewarded for doing what is required."@inkyjohnson
Greatness is not given to a chosen few. Greatness is given to the few who choose to do 'more than what's required'.
To be great, you have to give great -great sacrifice, great focus, great discipline, great effort.
It’s Fall Officials Appreciation Week! 👏🏻👏🏻
This week, we’re celebrating the officials who show up, make the calls, and help create a great experience for students every game.
Give an official in your community a BIG thank you this week! #OfficialsAppreciationWeek
A great game takes a great team – and officials are an important part of it.
Let’s show some love to those who dedicate their time and energy to making high school sports possible each week. 💙❤️
Tag an official who deserves a shoutout! #OfficialsAppreciationWeek

Push back on early single-sport specialization.
The research is clear: the real risk marker isn't a specific age; it's specializing before "peak height velocity," the rapid growth phase that signals puberty.
Before that window closes, multi-sport participation builds broader athleticism, better movement patterns, and a more resilient body.
Let them play. All sports!

Want to PR at your next meet? Look at what you do outside the workouts.
Ask yourself:
- Is your sleep supporting your training?
- Are you mentally preparing before each practice?
- Are you doing the little things, like strength and mobility and soft tissue work?

Everyone obsesses over level in recruiting, but here's the truth: After you graduate, no one cares what level you played.
Employers love hiring former athletes. Period.
Not because they were D1, D2, or D3, but because being a college athlete proves you have discipline and work ethic.

A lot of high school recruits say they really want to play in college...until the only calls they get are from D3 schools
Be grateful if any college is interested in you
93.5% of high school athletes don't get to play their sport at the next level
What recruits should do in September ⬇️
Class of 2030's
- Focus on academics
- Develop your game
- Have fun being a kid
Class of 2029's
- Get good grades, challenge yourself
- Talk to your college counselor
- Tell your coach you want to play in college
- Go to a local college game (assess level)
Class of 2028's
- Build a preliminary college list
- Start outreach to college coaches
- Game plan some college visits
- Prioritize your academics
- Complete recruiting questionnaires
Class of 2027's
- Ask Coaches about pre-reads
- Apply for outside scholarships
- Get your @CommonApp done
- Prepare for FAFSA (opens Oct. 1)
- Narrow down your list of offers
What'd we miss?
Recruits focus so much on level of play and forget to consider overall school fit
Don't just optimize for playing D1 if you know you do not like the school or worse, it doesn't have a major you want
Pick a school where athletics is a factor, but not the only one
We bet you'll walk away w/ a better overall college experience, a degree that is worth something, and life-long relationships developed over your four years on campus
The last part might just be the most valuable
Remember, fit > level

What did Walter Payton do when he had the flu and a 101-degree temperature? He ran for 275 yards because he was Walter Payton is what he did.
Getting a D3 offer isn't the end goal
Once you have offers, ask coaches...
- How do I fit w/ the current roster?
- Recruiting other players at my position?
- What academic support exists?
- Do you expect me to apply ED?
- How can I earn playing time?
- Any transfers incoming?
- What jobs do former players have?
- Has anyone done X major?
What'd we miss?
