Haven’t been on here for a while but I am alive - just not on X all that much! Anyway, here’s a column for you on the whole Renault/Ford EV thing. Maybe the whole platform sharing thing has gone too far? Starting to feel like it, to me.
“Would the return of the Ford Fiesta be a good thing?” asks @VickyParrott 🗣️ In her latest column, Vicky wonders if parts-sharing is ruining the car industry 👉 bit.ly/4rQ3Bll

Few of my thoughts on the new EV grant, for you.
“Why is the electric car grant so light on detail?” asks @VickyParrott 🗣️ Our motoring expert analyses the government’s announcement of a grant on sales of new electric cars. Read Vicky’s latest CarGurusUK column 👉 bit.ly/3IJQhg9

That button did annoy me. Quite a lot.
This feature-packed plug-in hybrid SUV from China costs less than an entry-level Audi Q5! Find out why you shouldn't dismiss the Omoda 9 – watch the full review on our YouTube channel now. #Omoda9 #Omoda

Bit of nostalgic musing on whether the new Leaf might have a bit of a Saab-ish tone to it. That’s a good thing, by the way….
“There's something of the Nissan's cleverness - its aerodynamic bodyshape, retro-ish rear styling and tech-stuffed interior - that makes me think of Saab.” says @VickyParrott 🗣️ Discover her thoughts in the latest CarGurusUK column 👉 bit.ly/4k2SOPG

The SL has been out of hibernation for a few weeks. Gorgeous drives in it over the weekend, and a bit of camping in between. It’s very grubby, and the ‘must sort that for the Merc’ to-do list is only getting longer, but it’s running beautifully and it makes me very happy.

On that there #Ford Puma Gen-E launch. Battery intrigue over the NMC battery’s unusually huge gross/net disparity… I shall report back when I’ve spoken to someone who knows the answer. Love a bit of battery geekery.

So, the unusually large buffer - 53/43kWh - is mostly to enable faster average charging. Peak rates 100kW, which Ford chief tells me the Puma will do consistently for as much as 17mins, then 6/7min at 80kW (well past 80% charge). Plus the usual battery degradation benefits, too.

In truth, I thought it was about time to stop calling everything an SUV many years ago.
"I do sometimes wonder where the ‘utility’ bit of the average Sports Utility Vehicle has gone." @VickyParrott thinks the time has come to stop calling every other car an SUV. bit.ly/4kV7Qc1

Impressed at the efficiency in the #Audi A6 e-tron RWD big battery. For a big estate, I’d say 3.7m/kWh and a real range of 300 miles (at motorway speeds and spring temps) isn’t bad. Not sure about the illuminated rear badge. Cool or tacky? (‘Scuse the rubbish photos…)

Lots of fun driving Maseratis yesterday. Blimey, that GranCabrio Folgore looks good, doesn’t it? 751bhp, electric four-seat convertible. 0-62mph in 2.8sec. Wowzers. It is rather fun! Not cheap, at £185k. Nor light, at over 2.3 tonnes. But it is utterly gorgeous.

An unpopular opinion, but touchscreens may not be the dread terror that they’re often made out to be…
"If you stop and think about all the stuff that was distracting us while driving in the pre-touchscreen age, the latest systems might suddenly seem like less of a scourge and more of a saviour," says @VickyParrott. bit.ly/3QAdNgr

As if we didn’t know this already, but here’s a column inspired by the many people I’ve spoken to who are keen on electric but won’t make the transition until towing becomes easier…
In her latest CarGurus column, @VickyParrott argues that diesel engines still have an important role to play, particularly for those who need to tow. bit.ly/3EF3CVh

Went and did a little vid on the new Tesla Model Y for the excellent @ElectrifyingCom. Unlike the Model 3, it’s got an indicator stalk! And yes, it does indicate left. Not just right… #tesla #ModelY youtu.be/Dxu8e95Bx4A?si=_H2p…
