As a gay man, it is exhausting to watch what used to be a movement about same-sex attraction get completely hollowed out. Gay used to mean something clear. Men who are attracted to men. Women who are attracted to women. That was the entire point. Now it has been buried under layers of gender ideology, identity politics, and a demand that we rewrite our own orientation to make other people comfortable. I am constantly told that if I am not attracted to a woman who identifies as a man, or a man who identifies as a woman, I am bigoted. That my sexual boundaries are a form of discrimination. That “trans men are men” and therefore belong in gay male spaces, dating pools, and communities. This is not inclusion. It is a direct attack on the reality of same-sex attraction. The same institutions that once claimed to fight for gay people now treat actual gay men and lesbians as the problem if we refuse to play along. Corporate Pride has become a vehicle for this ideology, not a celebration of us. The language has shifted so far that many young people no longer even understand what gay means. I do not need a parade or a rainbow logo to validate my existence. I need the freedom to live as a gay man without being pressured to deny biological reality or accept opposite-sex partners under a new label. The people pushing this did not liberate us. They colonized the movement and turned it against the very group it claimed to represent.

My mom was a hippie. My dad was a beatnik. I was so poor that at one point I worked two jobs and shared a bed with a friend. I got home at 8 AM from a night shift at a bakery, got into his bed, and slept while he went to his day job. I bought my first computer with my own credit card at age 20 and taught myself HTML. At the time, I worked nights in a giant, city block-sized printing plant in Queens, NY. I took the 7 train home at 2 AM most nights and was spit on and beaten up for being Irish on that train. Like GD Gangs of New York. I got up at 7 AM and coded websites until 11 AM and went to my printing plant job until the wee hours of the morning. My first website was featured in a book from Japan in 1997 as one of the 100 best-designed websites in the world. That opened doors and eventually brought me to San Francisco in 2004. And you know the rest of the story. It's on my website. I never begged for money, expected handouts, or called for government intervention in markets because of my difficult existence when I was young. I worked so hard my eyeballs fell out. And then I worked even more. And I succeeded well beyond anyone’s expectations because THIS IS AMERICA. So yes, I have a problem with politicians looking at what someone earns today and deciding they deserve a bigger piece of it. They see a fattened pig ready for the slaughter. I see the decades of sacrifice it took to build it. Even if it's modest. Calling it a so-called “millionaires tax” doesn't settle the argument. They already admitted it will apply to everyone. But I want the person cleaning the bakery at 4 AM to build something worth a fortune and keep the rewards. That is what America is about. Besides, we all pay plenty of tax as it is. I am voting YES on Initiative 645 to repeal Washington’s new income tax. I will never apologize for believing everyone should keep more of what they worked for and earned
There has always been this Ayn Randian notion that somehow, people who don't have money are at fault for it. They are defective. It's a horrible narrative. Sometimes it's about being in the right place at the right time. Or born to the right parents who just gift it to you.

You closed beaches and outdoor dining with no data to support it. So spare us your dictator bullshit
Our Founding Fathers did not fight to establish this republic just to watch Donald Trump tear it apart. And a spineless Congress let it happen. YOU deserve better.

I’ve seen what makes you cheer. You cheered when Charlie Kirk was publicly assassinated. You cheered when a healthcare CEO was assassinated. You cheer every time a baby is ripped apart limb by limb in the womb and babies were choked to death by an exercise band. You cheer every time there’s an assassination attempt on President Trump. Your cries about a mass shooter being publicly executed mean nothing to me.

Hot take of the day: we should bring back public executions- hangings in the town square, specifically.

Two of my friends became anxious during lockdowns and purchased Xanax laced with fentanyl and died. Multiple friends businesses closed forever. Multiple friends became alcoholics and drug addicts. Multiple friends romantic relationships dissolved (mine included.) multiple people caught a glimpse into the nature of what lengths their friend groups were willing to go to to comply with the state by sacrificing their close friendships. That's not even beginning to get into the effect lockdowns had on children. This was a major cataclysmic event and any reports otherwise are revisionist and condescending to the extreme hardship and devastation that they caused.
I wasn't a lockdown fan (see below). But there is now a social contagion of right-wing men imagining they were deeply, traumatized by lockdowns, rather than affronted, put out, annoyed. Some, I'm sure, had trauma-worthy lockdowns. Most of you are simple hysterics.

My mother parented two young children while battling severe mental illness and psychotic episodes. My father described her as “meticulous” in the way she shielded us from the fallout of her suffering, including admitting herself to inpatient treatment when necessary. She was very ill. And she struggled immensely, in ways we didn’t understand until we were much older. But she would have done anything, suffered anything, if it meant we were alive, safe, and happy. And we are. She raised us to adulthood, despite all of her challenges; watched us get married, supports and encourages us to be good people. She still fights to this day, for us. That’s who I want to celebrate. I want to celebrate the mothers who have fought like hell to protect their children, even from themselves at times. The ones who understood the sacred mission to protect little minds and little bodies, and pursued their mission relentlessly until it was completed. YOU are MY heroes. 🫶

The ignorance here is almost impressive. Under capitalism, you don’t have a right to anyone’s labor. You have to persuade them to work for you, pay enough for them to agree, and they remain free to quit, work for themselves, or compete against you. Then, somehow, the proposed cure is public ownership, putting production under political control and declaring that individual interests may be overridden for “the collective.” You’re arguing for the mechanism most capable of producing exactly what you claim to oppose: someone else acquiring the authority to dictate what your labor must serve, absent your consent.
I agree. You can’t have rights to other people’s labor. So let’s get rid of capitalism.

Killing a spider because you’re scared of it is fcking insane when you’re basically a kaiju compared to it. Get a cup, trap the little guy, put him outside. You don’t need to commit murder because an eight-legged creature startled you.

Why can’t communists be communist the way the Amish are Amish, as in, peacefully, voluntarily, among themselves, without taking anyone else’s property or forcing anyone else to participate? If communism is really about cooperation and community, why does everyone else have to be forced into it?

Went to a restaurant in a party of 6. The automatic 18% is applied to the bill because of the party size - but the service is terrible. Like abysmal. What do you do?
