Our power grid is out 3x longer than Florida's. Why? Because the PSC dropped utility pole standards 7 years ago, and companies profit off building new stuff, not maintaining the old.
As a former LPSC consultant, I built ServiceMyPole.org to fight back!
Monopoly utilities get paid a guaranteed return on everything they build, typically 9.7%. So they want to build as much as possible, as expensively as possible.
They don't make money fixing our stuff, so they minimize it. I'd switch to performance-based rate-making, where they make money based on how good a job they do.
From my conversation on The State of Freedom podcast.
Today is the last day of early voting. Vote Chris Justin, #48 on the ballot.
The Lightning Amendment lets new data centers come here paying 50% of the costs for 15 years. That leaves us on the hook for the rest.
For the Meta expansion alone, $3.85 billion could land on us, by Entergy's own numbers. We welcome the jobs. They should not be on our backs. The Lightning Amendment needs to be rescinded.
From the WDSU Hot Seat debate.
I take no utility money. I’m a licensed engineer, not a career politician. And I show up.
I’m running No Party, for Republicans, Democrats, and independents who want lower bills and an honest Commission.
Vote for lower bills. Vote for the engineer. Vote Chris Justin for Public Service Commissioner on Nov 3rd!

Stephanie Hilferty’s new ad says she stands for transparency and accountability.
She’s so transparent you can’t even see her. She skipped the WDSU Hot Seat debate and seven candidate forums. She won’t face voters now. She won’t face Entergy later.
I'm not scared to show up and talk about these issues. My opponent had "scheduling conflicts" for 7 weeks preventing her from attending the WDSU hot seat, and then used every backdoor tool available to her to prevent it from airing.
I had to call the head of WDSU to get them to unblock this episode.
I'm a No Party engineer with the qualifications and the drive to lower our electricity costs. Invite me into any room, and I'll talk about what it takes to bring your bill down.
Three things I'll push on day one at the PSC:
1. Get utility money out of the Commission. Three votes can change the rules.
2. Cut the guaranteed return utilities charge us down to 7.5%.
3. Make data centers pay 100% of their costs. Under the Meta contract, Entergy's own witness puts about $3.85 billion of leftover plant on the rest of us when the 20 years are up.
Thanks to William Wallis for having me on.
Early voting ends Oct 27. Vote #48, No Party.
Stephanie Hilferty skipped this debate, like she's skipped six forums. She had "scheduling conflicts" for 7 weeks preventing her from attending the WDSU hot seat, and then used every backdoor tool available to her to prevent it from airing.
