Twitter is not real life and Marriage is an exchange of cultures. No one goes into marriage to go and be forming culture supremacy battle except you're already both marrying into bitter families. In real life and in most inter tribal marriages I have been, they wear two tribal attires and often request the prostrating ritual even from the husband once they know he's Yoruba. It's not a big deal.
That’s not Yorùbá culture, though.
The tradition is ìgbéyàwó. In most cultures, the traditional wedding follows the bride’s customs.
Only women who aren’t proud of their own culture adopt another culture’s customs on their wedding day. Have you ever seen Yorùbá women hold their traditional weddings according to another culture’s customs, regardless of whom they’re marrying?
Yorùbá women have the best culture, so we’re secure in ours.
Genuinely curious, how’d you style your hair for your big day if you dislike frontals?
Braids or sew-in perhaps? Let’s discuss other options 🌚
