The wildfires in Central and Eastern Washington destroyed 649 primary residences and damaged an additional 2,542 homes. More than 65,000 people were evacuated in Spokane County. Federal financial assistance is critical to help these communities recover and rebuild.
Central and Eastern Washington experienced some of the most destructive fires we've ever seen in Washington state history. Today, I sent this video to the Trump Administration. We're asking them to grant a Major Disaster Declaration to help these communities recover.

More than half of the satellites in space right now were made here in Washington state. We just had our strongest quarter — maybe ever — for venture capital investment in startups with the space economy as a major driver. Great to be at the Seattle Space Superiority Summit yesterday. I'm committed to doubling down on our success. That's why I created the Governor's Space Council to ensure we continue to innovate, compete, and move forward as a leader nationwide and worldwide.

It was an honor to sign a cooperative agreement yesterday with Ambassador Karen Eva Abrahamsen of the Royal Danish Embassy. This next phase of our partnership focuses on areas like developing our ports and sustainable aviation fuel. We also look forward to working together on industrial symbiosis — making business more efficient by capturing waste from one industry and using it for another — an area where Washington state leads the nation. We're excited for further research and business partnerships, study and trade missions, and more. I'm proud to have this strong partnership with Denmark.

Fast-moving wildfires in Central and Eastern Washington devastated communities around our state. Communities like Adam's have been changed forever. I'm asking the Trump Administration for a Major Disaster Declaration, unlocking critical assistance to help Washingtonians recover and rebuild. Federal support is essential.

Ran into a group of future state leaders and took questions about affordable housing and the early learning center at Mount Baker. It's a reminder of how transformational this will be for so many families with children. Proud that our state is a partner on this project and making record investments in affordable housing — nearly $1 billion in this 2-year budget.

Last October, we reopened the White River Bridge weeks ahead of schedule. This closure was catastrophic for commuters and businesses. Since then, we've installed an over-height detection system for the bridge. We also made a historic investment in preserving our roads and bridges — a 36% increase. I will continue to make taking care of our roads and bridges a key focus of my administration.
Footage of the first cars coming across the White River Bridge on Friday! Thank you to our crews, engineers, and contractors, working hard 7 days a week, for making this happen for communities in Enumclaw and Buckley.

It was wonderful to celebrate Filipino American History Month with community members, specifically recognizing the farmworkers and labor leaders who have contributed so much to our state. In Washington state, our diversity is our strength.

$3.5 billion in a single quarter — that's the new record set in venture capital investment in the Seattle area. That's while funding declined nationally. Washington state is proud to lead in these cutting-edge industries. geekwire.com/2026/rocket-fue…

Terrorizing our elections officials is unacceptable. I’m grateful to law enforcement for their work to hold the perpetrators accountable.
Thursday afternoon, we learned that law enforcement intercepted a letter containing white powder addressed to the Washington Secretary of State's elections division. We are working closely with law enforcement to keep Washington election workers and voters safe and informed.

Breaking ground today on a transformational project at Mount Baker — more than 400 units of housing and a new early learning center, right next to the light rail station. We need more housing in Washington state, and we're excited to be a partner in making it happen.

Today marks one year of the Governors Public Health Alliance. Washington state is proud to work with other states to safeguard public health and strengthen preparedness. Our alliance represents one-third of the U.S. population across 15 states. The federal government has seen an exodus of scientific experts and alarming shifts in policy that place Washingtonians’ health at risk. In Washington state, science still matters.
1 year of Governors working together for healthier communities through PHA. PHA connects Governors with trusted public health expertise, practical resources, and one another to take action. 1/

Few things frustrate me more than bureaucracy that creates extra hurdles. So I'm proud of our team at the Department of Enterprise Services for setting a standard for the rest of the country in procurement. They created a first-of-its-kind Bidder Contracting Guide, clarifying contract changes and providing clear guidance to vendors. It's especially helpful to small businesses who may not have the staff or experience to navigate all the requirements. Congratulations to our DES team on their national recognition for Innovation in State Government.

I’m committed to building new opportunities for Washington & deepening ties with our partners. That’s why I signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding with Finland's Ambassador to the US, Leena-Kaisa Mikkola, @thenordicmuseum. Washington state and Finland are global leaders in developing cutting-edge innovations. This agreement strengthens our ties and helps build connections to create business opportunities, share expertise, and expand academic partnerships with our world-class universities.
