...weep with those who weep... (Romans 12:15b) Nowhere does it say to: Invalidate the one weeping... Subjugate the one weeping… Dismiss the one weeping... Destroy the one weeping... Mock the one weeping…

Addendum: This applies beyond politics, which I didn’t have specifically in mind when writing this. Also, the “ThEy DoNt ReAd ThEiR BiBlE” take is simplistic. Lots of folks read their Bible with an interpretive lens that does violence to the text—and by extension, people.

Maybe the revival we’ve prayed for is the exposing of abusive, narcissistic, and sadistic, spiritually dead pastors.

Christian: If you’re worried about* “people eating your pets,” why not do the thing Jesus would do: Feed them. *And repent of your racism.

Limiting replies. These responses are gross and I don’t entertain this level of stupidity. They’re not eating your pets 🤦🏾‍♂️ But, lots of you are, in fact, racist and cowards. That’s not me being condescending. That’s me being direct and blunt.

Happy 17th Anniversary to my Lady! We started out as babies (23 and 21) with the whole world in front of us. Here we are 17yrs later—older, wiser, stronger—with the whole world still in front of us! My favorite person, my safe person, my forever person—I love you, Shannon ❤️

Women and girls are not a threat to the Church. Here’s who is: -Narcissistic, arrogant, “nice guy” pastors -Leadership full of “yes men” -Members who head nod and “Amen” this abhorrent garbage; and who enable, cover for, and support these guys
Little girls in mini-skirts in church parking lots? Here's Josh Howerton, telling the men in their congregations that if they see such a little girl, "run, Forrest, run--you are no match for that enemy." Because apparently little girls are tempting. And they're your enemy.

Understand if you have to preach this and cover pics of a little kid while joking and laughing, you acknowledge: 1. There are pedophiles in your church 2. Your church is unsafe for men, women, and children There aren’t enough curse words for this.

Christians: Stop using abuse —a real horror—to make cheap, unrelated comparisons about…well, everything. The ignorance here speaks volumes.
The moral equivalent of telling an abused wife, “What did you do to make your husband so angry?”

A few years ago, we had a young woman in the church who had a surprise (to us) pregnancy. She called me, the AP, from the hospital just before delivering her baby boy. Know what I did? Went the hospital, reassured her, settled the family down, reassured the father… (1/3)

And when it came time, helped her find safety amidst a dangerous situation. Ministry isn’t done on a high horse or in an ivory tower. It’s done on the ground. In the trenches of life. With love, compassion, empathy, and genuine care. (End)

Addendum: 1. Limiting replies: no chance for obnoxious folks to hijack the thread. 2. AP = Associate Pastor Context clues, folks—not super hard to discern what I’m saying.

The way some of you talk about President Biden and his possible cognitive decline (as an 81-year-old man)… …makes me shudder at the prospect of you caretaking for family members as they inevitably grow older. The lack of compassion is inhumane and evil.

This isn’t a post about the POTUS stepping down; it’s not about politics. It’s about basic human decency and the cruel reality that folks are mocking an elderly man noticeably declining in the public eye. Don’t miss the point.

A reminder to Christians on Twitter/X: How you talk about others is a strong indicator of how you treat others. Using derogatory and profane language (stereotypes, slurs, etc.) to reference a fellow image-bearer—of any group—is indicative of a derogatory and profane heart.

I’ve been active on Twitter for nearly 4yrs, and in that time, I’ve learned one thing: Lots of (ignorant) folks claim the high ground without doing any work to get up the mountain.

My observation: when I see guys post like this, I immediately think “creep” and feel a low-key vibe that is best described as disgust - a strange mix of nausea and vomit. My job, in part, is to protect my daughter from guys like this; and prevent my sons from becoming them.
My observation: when I walk with my 1yo son and some childless women beyond their prime pass by (>27yo) I can see and feel a low-key vibe that is maybe best described as contrite - a strange mix of remorse/regret/unfulfillment. It's subtle but it's ALWAYS there. I can see it, feel it, smell it. It's in the energy field.

Is it me or does JD Vance (left) bear a striking resemblance to Jerry Falwell Jr. (right)?

A Reminder: Empathy for DJT as a human being does not obligate you to accept him as a presidential candidate. We must condemn violence against him. But we don’t need to accept him as a leader. We can chew gum and walk at the same time.
