As of 2:39 a.m. Friday morning, the winter mix has arrived in Alabama.
At face value, the radar image suggests primarily snow. However, radars can have difficulty accurately distinguishing between snow, sleet, and freezing rain. This is where surface observations come into play. We are currently seeing mostly sleet, with some snow falling across the northwest.
Let me know where you are located and what you see this morning.
