Most raises do not stall on finding a name. They stall on what happens next.
Which route fits? What evidence? Who owns the next step?
Capital conversations belong in one place, not 40-person email chains. Wayfin is being built for it.

Three questions most lenders ask before anything else:
1. What is the money for?
2. How does it get repaid?
3. What happens if the plan runs late?
If you can answer all three on one page, the rest of the conversation gets shorter.

Founders need founder friends.
The bigger your company gets, the fewer people can relate to what you're going through.

An investor's name tells you who exists.
A funding route tells you:
- what they fund, at what stage and cheque size
- what evidence they ask for
- who can introduce you
- what happens after the first meeting
A list stops at the name. The delay usually starts at everything below it.
Which of those four takes your deals longest to find out?
Capital signal: Africa, January to July 2026
Equity: $921m, down 9%.
Debt: $529m, down 44%.
Debt is not a steady alternative to equity. It can fall much faster.
For advisers: a raise plan that depends on one instrument needs a second route before the first one tightens.

Capital route: development finance
British International Investment has set out a five-year plan to channel £9bn of new capital into Africa.
BII contributes nearly £5bn. The rest is meant to come from private investors.
At least 25% of new investments by value are to go to frontier markets.
The point for advisers: this is anchor capital designed to bring others in. Before you approach it, check three things. Does your client's sector and country fit? Who else would sit alongside it? What evidence will each party ask for?

Today we’re out of stealth, and we’ve raised a $40m seed round co-led by @creandum and @usv, to bring Instant Robot Learning to life.
For the past few months, we‘ve been busy building a new company.
Machenta.
This follows results from a new kind of robot foundation model we’ve built, which I’m so excited to share with you today!
Usually, it takes hours/days of data collection and training to teach a robot.
We’ve built a model that learns tasks instantly: one demonstration, no further training.
A model trained entirely in simulation, without a single pixel of real-world data.
A model where teaching robots is so quick and easy, it feels like physical vibe coding.
A model for robots that learn like humans do, from someone like you.
Welcome to the era of Instant Robot Learning.
Thank you @Kathi_Wilhelm, @rebeccakaden, @hkanji, @jonno_evans and all of our angels for your support!

The US government will give your startup up to $2M and take 0% equity.
It's called America's Seed Fund, run by the National Science Foundation.
What you get:
• Up to $305K to start (Phase I)
• Up to $2M total per company for R&D
• 0% equity: you keep your company and your IP
• Funding across AI, robotics, semiconductors, energy, medical devices and more
What you don't need:
• A VC
• A warm intro
• A pitch deck to get started
You start with a short online pitch and hear back in about 1–2 months.
ThousandEyes started with NSF funding as a 2-founder team. Cisco later bought it for around $1B.
The condition: you're a US small business building deep tech, meaning something based on real science or engineering.
Next deadline: Nov 4, 2026.
Bookmark it and send it to the deep tech founder who thinks VC is the only way.
