Caller: Dave, I have $130,000 in debt, make just $30,000 a year, and have a family of five to support. I’m drowning financially.
Dave : You have $80,000 tied up in two vehicles? You cannot afford those cars!
Caller: I also have property debt and business loans, but my business isn’t bringing in enough money to support my family.
Dave : Then your business needs to be a side hustle until it can actually support you. Sell those vehicles, buy $1,000 to $2,000 cars, and get your expenses under control.
Caller: So I need to change my lifestyle and find a way to make more money?
Dave : Exactly. You cannot build a stable financial future on $30,000 a year while carrying $130,000 in debt. You need to increase your income and stop living beyond your means.

Sylvester Stallone reveals the powerful mindset behind Rocky Balboa’s fight with Apollo Creed, explaining why the real victory isn’t always about winning, but refusing to accept defeat before you even try
“All I want to do is go the distance. Nobody’s ever gone the distance with Creed. If I can go that distance and I’m still standing, I’m gonna know for the first time in my life that I weren’t just another bum from the neighborhood.”
“Everyone tells you, ‘You can do it, you can do it, you’re an underdog.’ But then you get to the arena, look around, and think, ‘What am I? This is such a facade.’”
“You start to make an adjustment. I may not be first, but if I come in third, I get the bronze. Good, I’m good, cause I’m never going to get the gold.”
“But no one ever said, ‘I’m going to lose. I’m definitely going to lose,’ because there’s a different form of winning.”

Matt Damon reveals Christopher Nolan built a 60 foot Cyclops puppet inside a real Greek cave for The Odyssey, just as Nolan’s call came after Damon had promised his wife he would slow down acting unless the director reached out
“We shot that sequence in Zeus’s cave, the landmark in Greece where they say Zeus was born. The rigging made it feel like a Hollywood soundstage. You would forget you were in a real place.”
“In that cave was a 60 foot puppet. I'm not joking.”
“They built a miniature cave for Bill Irwin, who plays the Cyclops, and then we shot in the real cave with our guys playing opposite this giant puppet.”

Matt Damon reveals the unusual lengths Christopher Nolan went to keep his movie scripts secret, sending a PA all the way to Germany to deliver one in person
“They sent a guy, a PA, to Germany to hand carry the script because they wouldn't send it in the mail.”
“He shows up at 9 o’clock at night, and I tell him I have to shoot at 5 in the morning.”
“He goes, ‘Yeah, I can't leave the script.’”
“But when I finally read the script the following day, I had that reaction because my kids were little. I was a puddle reading that script. I've never reacted to a script that way.”

Tom Cruise reveals how a single nod of his head coordinated an entire helicopter and drone crew during his dangerous Mission: Impossible motorcycle cliff jump, after years of preparation for a stunt where one mistimed move could have sent everything wrong
“They said action, but no one went. I had to find something where I didn't take my hands off the bike.”
“His timing, my speed had to be perfect because he could have blown me off that ramp.”
“My head went down. That told the helicopter I'm going, it told the drones I'm going. And once I did that, I had to release the bike.”

Christopher Nolan says Marvel and DC superheroes are modern versions of ancient Greek heroes, revealing how Homer’s epics inspired comic book culture and how he first encountered The Odyssey as a child
“They’re the original superheroes. A lot of comic book culture, whether you’re talking about Marvel or DC, comes pretty directly from the Homeric epics.”
“Nobody knows if Homer was a person. In a way, Homer is maybe the George Lucas of his time.”
“There’s this desire for us to feel or believe that gods could walk amongst us, and I think the modern comic book is our expression of that.”
“I first encountered The Odyssey in a school play when I was probably only four or five. They had him strapped to the mast and the sirens, and did some version of the horse.”
“It’s a story that we all kind of know a bit about.”

Caller: Dave, we spent 7 years paying off almost $1 million in business debt. We're down to the last $60,000, but I'm exhausted and resent my husband. I gave up my dream of being a stay at home mom to make this happen. Now I feel disconnected from him.
Dave: What are you resenting?
Caller: Everything I sacrificed. I feel like I lost 7 years of my life trying to save our family from debt.
Dave: You can't change those 7 years. But you can stop letting the resentment destroy what you're trying to save.
Caller: How do I even begin to let it go?
Dave: Write your husband a letter. Get help from a counselor or pastor. Then start building a new vision for your marriage. You can't keep punishing your husband for a past neither of you can change.
Caller: I just want to feel close to him again.
Dave: Then start working on your marriage now. Don't wait until the debt is gone to start rebuilding your relationship.

Caller: Dave, I won $22 million in the lottery two years ago. Almost nobody knows. Just my wife and one sibling. Am I crazy for keeping it a secret?
Dave: Crazy? You may have just protected yourself from the biggest problem that comes with sudden wealth. Why keep it quiet?
Caller: I've seen what happens when people find out. Everybody wants something, and money changes how people look at you.
Dave: Exactly. Once people know you've got $22 million, you're no longer just John. You're the bank. So how do you help family without exposing yourself?
Caller: We tell them my wife's late great uncle left us an inheritance. That's our cover story.
Dave: That's clever. And did you change your lifestyle?
Caller: Not really. I still work a job I love, live in my old house, and drive my old cars. From the outside, nothing has changed.
Dave: Good. The money didn't change who you are. What about your kids? Do they know?
Caller: No. We want them to develop their own work ethic and find their own purpose.
Dave: That's smart. You don't want your kids growing up believing they never have to accomplish anything because an inheritance is waiting for them.
Caller: So when do we start enjoying the money?
Dave: Now! You can be responsible without being afraid to enjoy your own wealth. Take your family on trips. Make memories. Give generously. Help people who genuinely need it.
You kept the money from changing your life. Now make sure being afraid to spend it doesn't stop you from living that life.
The goal isn't to die with $22 million. It's to use that money to make a difference while you're still here.

Miles Teller says he once became a real life superhero after a pregnant woman asked him for help when a shark swam past her in the ocean

“She goes, ‘There’s a big shark that just swam right by me. Can you help me and my baby?’ And I’m like, this is three people right here.”

Caller: Dave, I’m 69, and my 79 year old husband has secretly gambled away over $1 million of our savings. We used to have more than $1 million, but now we have just $15,000 left. He makes $350,000 a year as a pharmacist, yet he insists he can control his sports betting.
Dave: He gambled away a million dollars, and he still thinks he has it under control?
Caller: He says he can limit himself to $700 or $800 a month. He doesn’t seem to understand how serious this is.
Dave: That’s not control. That’s denial. You don’t lose a million dollars gambling and fix the problem by promising to lose less next month.
Caller: I love him, but I’m terrified we’ll lose everything. We’re almost 70, and I don’t know how to get through to him.
Dave: He needs professional addiction treatment immediately. You need to protect whatever money you have left, and he needs to stop gambling completely.
Caller: What if he refuses to get help?
Dave: Then you have to be prepared to leave. You cannot save someone from an addiction when they refuse to admit they have a problem. And you cannot sacrifice your entire financial future trying.
Caller: So I have to choose between my marriage and protecting myself?
Dave: He’s the one making that choice every time he gambles. You’re not responsible for his addiction, and you don’t have to let it destroy the rest of your life.

“As I'm violently puking in this bag, I hear him say, ‘Well, buddy, if you're ready to rock and roll, let's rock and roll.’ Then he inverts the plane.”

Caller: Dave, my wife graduates dental school in May. We owe $750,000 in student loans, plus I have another $40,000 in consumer debt. Where do we even start?
Dave: You two don't understand how bad this is yet. Her debt is double what it should have been for that degree.
Caller: We were told dentists make good money and can handle it.
Dave: That's the trap. Dentists carry this stuff for 20 years and call it normal. It's not normal. It's a mess you made, and you have to own that.
Caller: Okay. So what do we do?
Dave: You live like absolute poor people. Rice, beans, no vacations, no new anything.
Caller: How long are we talking?
Dave: You're about to make $300,000 to $400,000 a year combined. Live like this and throw everything at the debt, and you can be done in about three years.
Caller: And if we don't?
Dave: Then you're paying on this until your kids are in college. Three years of misery, or twenty years of payments.
