The returns on Luke Smyers this fall have been promising.
It's mostly sinker/slider from the left side, with an emerging mid-80s CH mixed in as well.
He only tossed 13 innings last season, but the chances he has a much larger role for the Tide this spring are high.
Have a night, @SmyersLuke
2.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 4 K on 76% strikes
Showed improved stuff on the Cape this summer, expect an increased role in the spring for the sinkerballer

Rob Vaughn is entering year four in Tuscaloosa and has just taken @AlabamaBSB back to Omaha for the first time since 1999.
He has no plans on waiting 25 years for that next trip. I sat down with him Friday to talk about how he’s gonna keep the Tide rolling into 2027. Here’s my latest for @CollegeBaseCNT. (Link below)

Coach Rob Vaughn says Wyatt Williams is one of a couple freshman arms with a good shot to start, and it's easy to see why.
He’s a quick mover with a low-90s FB from a low slot, plus a hammer curve and low-80s CH as putout pitches.
Struck out 3 on 31% whiff over 3 IP on Friday.

The Riedell Report Fall Ball Tour left the state of Florida this past weekend as I stopped in Tuscaloosa to watch UAB and Alabama go toe to toe for 14 innings.
I broke down the good and the bad with quotes from both coaches in my latest article for @CollegeBaseCNT. (Link below.)

Eric Hines just hit a grand slam to the road beyond left field. It came off his bat at 115 mph.
Lots of dang-equivalents said around the ballpark watching that one.

Alabama Head Coach Rob Vaughn revealed that @AlabamaBSB RHP Michael Senay underwent a procedure earlier this fall and that is why he hasn’t thrown yet this fall.
Senay pitched to a 3.78 ERA in 81 innings with 49 K’s.

Getting the start in the second game tonight for @AlabamaBSB is FR RHP Jack Rostock from North Broward Prep in Florida.
Rostock flipped from NC State to Alabama after the coaching change and has been up to the mid-to-upper 90s, I have been told. Has the potential to be really good year one for the Crimson Tide.
They just played “Take Me Out” between innings, but @ZaneAdams_2023 did not march in for the bullpen. Kinda disappointed. @AmandaDay_20

We nearly got our first long ball of the night in the final inning of the first game as @AlabamaBSB newcomer Griff Rardin launched one off the top of the wall for his second hit of the game.
Rardin is the son of @WKU_Baseball HC Marc Rardin.

I asked @UAB_Baseball Kevin Hall Jr. before tonight's exhibition against Alabama, someone I should be buying stock in.
He told me that he expects Riley Miller to have a breakout year. The sophomore has been up to 99 already this fall and struck out the side, including Eric Hines in his first inning of work tonight.

Alabama's Sam Christiansen missed all of last season with an injury, but so far in two at-bats here today, he is making a great impression on the Alabama fans here.
His second double of the day ties this game at one.

Luke was dealing! He notches four strikeouts over 2.0 scoreless innings.
