Time for these folks to prove their election claims. No BS, no poison pills in the bill, no pandering to Dunn/DeVos, etc.
Texans now have a #txlege House rock-solid for #txed! Every winner ran hard on a pro-public ed platform!
We take them at their word, that their past privatization positions were wrong & that their @texasgop is wrong.

This is why we are bi-partisan. And always will be.
Both #txlege R's & D's are responsible for the attack on #txed.
And both R's & D's are responsible for stopping it.

Here’s an idea on providing property tax relief for Texans: End the #txlege process of “recapturing” local tax dollars and then putting it into the general fund to pay for their own state obligations. Look at us… ready to be governor.
New — @GovAbbott has added 2 more items to his agenda for the third special session:
— Legislation to provide "additional property-tax relief for Texans"
— A bail-related constitutional amendment

If #txlege spent as much time in #txed public schools, with our dedicated teachers, as they do manufacturing jacked up, stupid, irrelevant, unneeded bills…
…Texas would lead the nation in public education investment, instead of trail it.

Happening now: @TXSBOE hearing from TEA Commissioner Mike Morath.
Says COVID-19 surge is having a "very significant operational impact" on schools across Texas.
Nature of the virus means people are walking into schools infected.

There's a misunderstanding that SB 15 is the only way to ensure funding for remote learning during the current surge.
Temporary funding could be appropriated by itself or provided via waiver. SB 15 creates a wholly new program expanding virtual in statute. #txed #txlege

The bulletin today from @teainfo is huge, y’all. Basically, Abbott just blinked on masks and contract tracing.

Unless you mean a family’s personal resources*, there is no such thing as “their children’s education dollars”. There are only taxpayer funds. You are a dishonest hack.
* Reader, trust us. He doesn’t.
Replying to @DeAngelisCorey
Families would be able to take their children's education dollars to the education provider of their choosing:
• Private school
• Tutoring
• Instructional materials
• Online courses
• Educational therapies
Watch the whole thing with the sound on, if you are unsure of what it’s like right now to be a public schoolteacher in Texas.

I cannot emphasize this enough.
The surge is being used as an excuse to resurrect virtual expansion, but SB 15 would not provide immediate relief.
This legislation is about further commercializing an educational model that has failed the vast majority of kids. #txlege #txed
Replying to @MarkWigginsTX
So, ought we even bother checking our notes and refreshing your constituents on which party’s House delegation killed those things in the regular session? Or nah?
