The Embassy of Italy in Colombo and the Honorary Consular Agency in Maale have launched a fundraising initiative to support the family of MNDF Sergeant First Class Mohamed Mahudhee.
The Embassy also announced that Manudhee will be awarded the Gold Medal for Civil Valour, the highest distinction conferred by the Italian Republic in recognition of acts of exceptional civil courage.

And if presidents know that they would have to rely on Aasandha when they become ex-presidents, they would do their best to improve public healthcare and public health insurance during their terms.
We need ex-presidents to be like José “Pepe” Mujica.
They can't live with their failure so they changed the rules for themselves
Today’s Asandha system is the product of nearly two decades of development under 5 Presidents. So why shouldn’t those same Presidents receive healthcare through the very system they built for the country?
If former Presidents and MPs still require special healthcare privileges outside Asandha, what does that say about the healthcare system they’ve provided for ordinary citizens?
If the system they built is good enough for the people, shouldn’t it be good enough for them too?
Let that sink in.

If we actually extend the list to top 50, PEP % is still >75%. #foodforthought
((I am cheating a bit by using Universal/Coastline as a political tag but even under strict tagging we can still prove their PEP status through other entities.
Also I had #15 and #16 on the initial table censored by accident))

a residency program is not an ordinary decision. it’s something completely new and could have a huge impact on our country. personally, i believe a president who lost the last referendum by 70% should not make this kind of decision alone. the public deserves a say in it.

I don't see how anyone can watch this video and think this is an acceptable way for police officers to treat people.
The unnecessary force, language, and especially a male officer manhandling a woman. All of it needs to be questioned,
Hello @min_mohst
The people of @MaleCitymv shouldn't have to fear being humiliated or mistreated by the very officers meant to protect us.

Dhaandhoo MP Mohamed Fazeel, immediately after a meeting on Rasmale, made two astonishing statements:
1. The RasMale agreement need not be made public because an agreement between two individual parties is a private affair.
2. Not even a Terms Sheet Agreement has been signed yet.
This is coming from an MP immediately after an info session on the very issue.
Dear PNC, Rasmale is a matter of enormous national and political significance. At the very least, educate your MPs on the basics before sending them out to confuse the public further and fuel even more public outrage.

Since no one else seems willing to take the initiative, I have decided to take it upon myself, for now, to bring together a strong team of 33 individuals who put the interests of this nation above everything else.
Basic requirements:
1. Must be independent and free to speak their mind, without political or employment-related obligations that could compromise their independence, like government jobs.
2. Must NOT have previously held senior political positions or played a leading role in any political party or a government.
If you believe you meet these criteria and have the courage, independence, and commitment to stand up for this nation, DM me.
( Note: This is unrelated to the ongoing Alabbar–Rasmale issue )

who would have thought this 100% muslim country under the most religious president @MMuizzu would legally ban criticizing Jews for their genocide?
We made fun of western countries for passing similar laws under influence of Jewish lobby.
Here we have no lobby, not a single parliament member financed by Jewish money yet they are already writing laws to protect them.
Funny thing is they haven't even invested a single dollar to Rasmale project but we are already writing laws to protect Jewish interests.
Is this pathetic or sad?

🚨 JUST IN: The Public Accounts Committee this morning approved an increase in the Chief Justice’s salary from 91,000 to 95,000.
The proposal was made by Funadhoo MP Mohamed Mamdhooh and endorsed by Kela MP Abdul Shareef.
Their justifications are a mockery of the public’s intelligence.
Just a few days ago, these same MPs justified increasing the Speaker’s salary on the grounds that he was earning less than Deputy Speaker Saleem.
Today, they justified increasing the Chief Justice’s salary on the grounds that he now earns less than the Speaker.
UPDATES: After further deliberations, or rather confusions, once again Funadhoo MP Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed:
1. Additional allowance for Parliament Speaker: 22,000. Increasing speakers salary to 95,000.
2. Increase ministers’ drivers’ car fuel allowance from 1,000 to 2,000
3. Ministers’ drivers’ basic salary to: 12,000
4. Additional living allowance for ministers’ drivers: 3,000
That brings a minister’s driver’s total monthly package to MVR 17,000. It used to be some 6000.
Submitted by Funadhoo MP Mamdhooh and endorsed by Fuvamulak MP Hamad.
Remember these names. Remember who proposes, who endorses, and who votes for these decisions.

Talk about royally missing the point. Or should I say
Ras-missing-the-point
You are implying that the intervention under that government was rushed but yours is “justified” because the “previous guys also did it, and they did it first”
Incompetence is incompetence. This bill had legally unnecessary elements and its timing is politically tone deaf to Maldivians sensibilities
You messed up! Stop chasing your tail! My guy, please get your fries in the bag!!! 💀💀
The Maldives intervened in The Gambia v. Myanmar on 10 November 2023, under the previous Government. It is in that very declaration, Maldives expressly argued that Article V of the Genocide Convention obliges States to enact domestic legislation criminalising genocide. Yet, the Maldives had not done so.
It was not this Government that “jumped into proceedings” making that very argument without first addressing our own laws.
On 1 October 2024, this Government intervened in South Africa v. Israel, advancing arguments on States’ obligations to prevent and punish genocide, including direct and public incitement.
Both interventions were legally justified. Neither required prior domestic criminalisation.
This Government is correcting a legislative failure that has persisted for over four decades. That is not headline-chasing. That is doing our job.
The facts are clear. Your understanding of them, evidently, is not.
